bruce,
Meetings should always be productive. It is out of respect for everyone involved that the meeting start on time and follow the agenda set. Nothing destroys the reputation of the meeting if it does not seem productive.

Our staff meetings (once a month), are very informative. Having worked here previously, these meeting help me catch up, so to speak, with what has changed in regards to the whole institution, and how the other departments better communicate with each other. Our weekly admissions meetings helped me determine how prepared I need to be to be more affective as a representative. The day-to-day discussions/meetings (as needed) allowed me to be more conscientious about the regulatory requiremets and policies to do my job more effectively.
Our school holds daily, weekly, and program specific meetings. The daily meetings lay out the goals for that day. The weekly meetings primarily focuses on the overall class start progress. And the program specific meeting focuses on how to market our product to students more effectively. Lastly, staff meetings are utilized to update the entire staff on regulatory changes. So meetings are a way of life here at my school. They are time consuming but necessary.
We have a similar practice where we have weekly meetings to catch up on the prior week and prepare for the upcoming week, but we also hold monthly or sometimes bi-weekly meetings to make sure we're all on the same page and ultimately equipped with the best tools to help our students.
We have monthly meetings with the whole office staff. However with admissions we try to have meetings bi-weekly. Our School Director and Education Director are constently keeping us up to date with all and any changes.
We have weekly team meetings with our Director for up to date information onn the school and the industry. We also have bi-weekly one-on-one meeting with our Director to discuss more detailed information about the school, the advisors productivity and concerns (if any).
I meet twice a week with our Campus President. We meet for staff meetings once a week. Meetings are a great time to make sure that everyone is up-to-date with policies, requirements and the ongoing happenings of the institutions. They also allow you to build rapport with your colleagues.
every meeting that is important for me to understand more about the process and how to be more successfull in what I do.
The most common meetings are our weekly and monthly staff and faculty meetings. Along with product knowledge meetings. all meetings are set up for our Admissions dept to stay up to date with any changes in curriculum, changes in procedures, and to discuss ways we can better perform our duties.
Well, I am new, so I don't know all of the meeting that I will be apart of, but since I started I have been in a bunch.
I am meeting with department heads, going over what their department is doing and what they feel is important for new prospective students to know about their department.
I am going to the faculty meeting to get a feel of how they view student life and what the admissions department needs to continue or change when talking to students about their classes.
I am meeting with the financial aid department to understand the type of aid available to prospective students and what qualifies them for that aid.
I have met with my staff to go over our strategic plan and our calendar of events.
Meetings are certainly a valuable tool in the world of an Adm Rep... They should be scheduled and they should be ON Time. Every minute in that room (although educational) is valuable time away from reaching out to prospects. Come to meetings on time and Be Prepared to speak about your role intelligently,,,, no BS, they'll see right through it.
Tracy,
Product knowledge training should be a continual effort. There are so many nuances to the programs that training should be an ongoing initiative.

We attend product knowledge meetings given by the Program Directors, daily stand-up meetings for Enrollment Specialists and staff meetings to make sure that we stay up to date with policies, regulatory requirements and knowledge about the various programs we offer.
