You have a good mix of opportunities to share information.

Margaret,
Meetings are a wonderful opportunity to learn and discuss any questions you may have.

We have weekly admissions meetings, as well as, monthly Program Director learning. We also attend training on a regular basis in admissions

We hold a variety of workshops and internal meetings for our teams on pertinent topics such as State Licensing.

We also attend CIE meetings, local Workforce Board meetings within our geography, as well as partnering with other schools and training providers within our geography to share information.

Stephanie,
You have brought a good point to the forum on using networking and vendors as resources.

I attend industry networking meetings and also receive a number of newletters. Several of the networking groups have speakers that discuss economic changes and areas of employment that are down or growing. These help me with my students when they ask about areas of study. Also several of our courseware suppliers have webcasts on new program rollouts that are very informative.

I try to attend all meetings that will cover any type of rules and regulations or any changes in curriculum.

I have a scheduled one on one meeting every week with the department head of Admissions which allows us to discuss any updates, changes, and continued projects we are working on. My department also has a weekly staff meeting where all Student Services Staff members meet to discuss our objectives for the week and term, along with any policy changes and development. I sit in on Student Director meetings on campus to learn how my department can better serve student needs as well as overall university wide staff meetings.

I attend weekly staff meetings, financial aid workshops, and intern presentations at our campus clinic. Attending each of these events keeps me relevant on current updates and how students are applying their knowledge and skills towards building a successful career.

I attend association meetings. These are a great source of information and a great way to get to know other individuals in the same field. It is invaluable when you are seeking information or advice.

I attend staff, office, student/director, and other planned meetings to stay up to date.

Debra,
Sounds like you have a great team dedicated to learning.

Our Admissins staff has weekly meetings and our Director keeps us up to date on many things. We also have guest speakers such as professors, department heads, clinical directors, etc. to keep us up to date on what we need to know to do our jobs. Also, anytime one of us hears of something that may have changed, we are quick to update the group and look into the details if we need them. We have a great Director who makes sure we have all of the tools to do our jobs. We are also lead by administrators who are flawless in their professionalism. It sure is helpful to work at the right place!
