Training mtgs, staff mtgs and converstions with legislators and department workers.
As a director of admissions- I try to attend most meetings that happen in every department. The admissions department is the front line. Although we may not discuss placement, financial aid or other matters with the student, it is important to be aware. We have consistent meetings with the entire staff to discuss improvements and policy changes.
I review on a regular basic our school procedures and updates. Watch web programs and research info to assist me in being better at my job. I am always trying to improve my approach to students and closure of sale
Lynn,
Writing down your questions is a great tip.
We, also, have team meetings and required reading in order to stay sharp.
Meetings are very important to make sure you stay up to date. I am a questions person and always read everything. If I can't get to my DOA I always know there is a meeting coming up and I can ask the questions I wrote down.
Amarilis,
Getting better every day!
Lynn,
Asking questions is a great way to learn.
We have teem meetings but most of the time I ask everyone questions. I read the catolog and all addendums.
By keeping in touch and updating information we improve our performance.
The meetings that I typically attend at my college are meetings regarding retention, admissions meetings. Also meetings on motivation and personal development. Compliance meetings and meetings regarding the needs of our students and how we can better assist their needs.
I am new to admissions and am pleased to see that out school has regularly scheduled inter-departmental meeting. The purpose of these meetings is to make each of the departments work together as one unit.
Benjamin,
Accountability meetings are an important part of the enrollment process.
Yvonne,
Meetings are wonderful learning opportunities.
I attend every staff meeting as well as any other meetings that i think will benifit me and my profession.
Meetings I believe are to make aware of all activities and issues of the day that need to be addressed. In meetings there are objectives that will be covered such as compliance issues and in admissions enrollments, if the student meets the requirements and how to continue with the enrollment process.
Bobbet,
You are getting well-rounded updates. Keep on learning.
Daniela,
Meetings are excellent opportunities to learn and share experiences.
We have a weekly conference call where the director announces any updates and important information conerning mainly Admissions but also our supervisor attends another meeting where all the departments are part of where they all share imformationa and after she attends that meeting she informs us of the outcome.
I participate in Webinars, FAPSC courses, Continuing Educations Units (CEU's), Workforce meetings and receive current update on government policies and procedures.
