Matthew ,
They protect us, guide us, and keep honesty and integrity on the forefront.

Patty Aronoff

soch,

Words to live by. You cannot go wrong...

Michael,
It's the law. Always check to see if a FERPA has been signed. Better safe than sorry.

The CIE has a great impact on how I perform my job because knowing the guidelines, I will make sure that they are adhere to as outline in the catalog.

From the beginning, the CIE helped streamline our program from the catalog to the enrollment agreement. This has helped me be far more effective and consistent in the presentation of our program. Before CIE regulated the FCCPC it seemed that each instructor was doing something different, or changing things in the middle of a course. It is nearly impossible to market and communicate effectively when that is the approach. Now, with the regulation of CIE, it has forced our teachers to yield to set policy and allowed us to communicate from one "sheet of music."

As a representative, I must take care to make sure that I am in compliance with the CIE requirements, ensuring consistency across the board in admissions activities and practices. For example, I must have full knowledge of credit transferability between mine and other institutions. By being thouroughly informed on the subject, I can accurately inform prospective students about their credits and the transfer thereof into my institution. I can also accurately inform the applicant about the transfer of credits from my institution and whether or not they may be accepted by another institution.

Gives as a clear definition of what is expected of us.

I make sure I give the most accurate information to the students. I also encourage them to research information on their own.

We know that we must remain compliant (FERPA) and not to overstep our bounds even if we have first-hand information from a recent graduate. It is very important NOT to speculate with students about future job possibilities.

Santhia,
They protect the student but also protect the school. It is a great situation.

Daniel,
The Commission is a consumer protection agency. As the protect the student, they are ensuring the schools operate within he law also protecting the school.

Patty Aronoff

Lisa Marie,

Yes! Even minimum wage can change between counties. This is why extensive research is necessary.

Patty Aronoff

Marion,
Ethics is part of our inner soul. Either you have it or you don't. It is hard to determine unless tested. Many in the profession can talk the talk but can they make the right decision when pressured.

They represent the regulatory body that protects the consumers' interests. In that regard, we have to do our best to be in compliance with the rules and regulations that are in effect.

I think the CIE helps insure that a prospective student isn't being given mis-information about the career and/or salary expectations of the given field they are seeking education for. It helps keep the needs of the consumer above the institution.

We are on the border of two counties and we have discovered there is a change in pay due to which county one works. Interesting!

The simple response to this Patty, is that CIE's requirements allows admissions representatives to perform ethically and knowledgably in their jobs. I just completed Module 4 and got one response incorrect because I thought the single most important thing an admissions rep need to be aware of is CIE requirements. I still hold that as primary in addition to that admissions rep focus on ethics. To me, an admissions rep who knows the rules and regs are of more value to me than any other quality. I can teach other qualities, but I cannot teach ethics so I depend on those reps to exhibit this quality in everything they do and say.

Maxine,
We should provide them with plenty of factual information. In order to make their own decision, they need to know everything possible. You would want the same?

Patty Aronoff

Tanya,
The Bureau of Labor Statistics can give a general view, but local employers can give a better picture of what is in your area.

Patty Aronoff

Steve,
Yes, the rules protect the school, the employees, but it's main focus is the protection of the student.
