The best thing that could have happen to us is an admissions training and the knowledge of the rules and regulations by CIE, it has impacted the way we recruit and inform prospective students so they can have accurate, compliant information.

The Commission for Independent Education enables the representative to focus on what is best for the student and the school at the same time. As in most things, doing the right thing because it is the right thing to do leads to right results.

Through our process students are informed of salaries that our graduates have reported to us. New students are shown how many students, within a particular time period, graduated from their program of interest, the # that have reported their salaries to us and then the new student is shown a low, a high and a average annual salary (from the reported students).

It creates accountability to understand every aspect of our organization. It also helps the accuracy of the information that I share with others.

The CIE affects EVERY aspect of what we do as an institution. Knowing what we can/cannot say to prospective students, learning the regulations that govern our industry, knowing who to ask if we are looking for certain information, are all ways that our jobs are affected. Without these regulations, all of our jobs would either be endangered or non-existent as there are no institutions that could afford the lawsuits that would follow certain actions which are currently regulated by the CIE.

I encourage students to use the labor dept but I also ask if they know someone in the field of interest and if they have talked with them.

Matthew,
The regulations of the CIE protects both the student and the school. It is critical the rules are followed.

The Commission for Independent Education requirements affect how I perform my job because their goal is to produce a seamless educational system. Including consumer protection, program improvement, institutional policies and administration, data management, and the licensure of independent schools, colleges and universities. In my role I must stay current on these policies.

Regulations provide structure and shared expectations. It allows me the opportunity to know what is expected by CIE.

Understanding the requirements also assure one understands the ramifications for not following the requirements. Failure to meet the requirements negatively affects all stakeholders.

The requirements have helped develope further the knowledge and integrety that I administered
myself on a daily basis.

The CIE requirements estabblish the guidlines for how we consistantly approach admissons processes thus representing our school with the integraty and expectation for all prospects.

The CIE requirements insure that as enrollment representatives, the information we deciminate is accurate which protects the prospective student from making educational decisions based on false and/or misleading information.

The BLS can be a navigational nightmare. But they have an Occupational Outlook Handbook (type this in the search box). Now type in your program name like Cosmetology. The employment and job section are perfect little summaries to cut and paste into a brochure noting where it came from. MY FAVORITE.

Lauren,
Everyone at the school has a part in developing a successful student.

Josefina,
Very true in that we cannot promise employment but we have many resources to assist them.

Maria,
The regs make sure you cover all the bases for Fair Consumer Practices.

Brandon,
Unfortunately, not everyone makes the right ethical choice. We would hope that humanity would operate that way.

Judith,
The Commission is the regulating body and the rules protect all.

Judith,
The Commission protects both the student and the school.

Marcus,
Personal assumptions are a pathway to a dangerous road.
