William,
The various social media sites have different audiences. The tone and tenor of each one is different as well.

Jessica,
Social media is the way to connect today. It's exciting it's new it's quick and many schools are taking advantage of this communication tool.
Patty Aronoff
Michele,
It does take time and effort to maintain a social media site. Most schools do not have the resources to do so and can only update as necessary.

We have a social media presence on Facebook, Twitter and Linked In. These have been great in providing options for our graduates and current students to connect.
Additionally, these are great tools for discussing college news and events.
Our school uses Social Media to communicate to students who can’t be reached by phone. It provides a way to have a conversation with our students to inform them on their status in the admissions process. As well as a way to set up an appointment where they can either physically meet with an admissions representative or a convenient time to be contact by telephone.
We use Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Personally, I only follow my school on LinkedIn because there we have more focused and less generic communities.
My College uses Facebook, twitter, linked in, instagram, etc. I think it is a great way for my communicate with the students we particularly deal with. Our students rather be on their phones chatting so we incorpated facebook in addition to phone calls and e-mails. I feel like this tool is super useful when the student responds obviously. Instagram and facebook as a combination are awesome because we deal with art students so we can "like" students art work and check up on their progress during the semesters.
We have a facebook account for the school. It provides information. I do not think it is being utilized to its fullest potential. I would like to see our institution update it a little more frequently as there is no reason for any one to revisit.
Salomon,
It is a great way to put out your pride in what you do at your institution. You get to post pictures and advance of what is happening.

Luz,
Social media actually has two faces. I can be your best friend. Depending upon how you set it up will determine it's impact.
Patty Aronoff
Yvonne,
There are companies that manage social media sites for you but can be very costly. Do your research and learn!
Patty Aronoff
its great because it gets the student involved and gives them a sense of pride in the school .
The school that I work has a Facebook page, however I would like to have them take it more seriously. I would like to become more educated in this area so that I can inform upper management of these advantageous. Do you have any suggestions?
I am a fan of using social media it's a great marketing source but also a good source of communication for students to voice their concerns or complaints that they may not have face to face.
Lindsay,
What a great partnership! Having a mentor assist the students with their progress
Patty Aronoff
Francia,
Agreed ! You only put on the Internet what you want the world to see. Also knowing the fact that it will never go away.
Patty Aronoff
DAHLIA,
Social media takes attention to detail. It is something that we must follow on a daily basis.
Patty Aronoff
Tracy,
I agree with you. Our Facebook page is a great way to highlight what wonderful community activities our students are participating in and successful accomplishments of our alumni. Also, it is a great tool for sharing events that are happening on campus!

Our school uses Facebook to keep in touch with Alumni. We also use it to keep current students informed. Each cohort creates a FB page for their class. I think it is a great way for students to connect and to get information they need quickly. We have a mentor/mentee program our students that just finished their 1st term and are going into their second them become mentors for the new students coming in. They use FB to stay connected.
The media is great to inform students but, you have to have a personal that know how to reach those students. As it said in the chapter it is a permanent record not everyone can be part of it.
