The goal of educating students will vary based on the subject and type of information transfer which needs to occur. Overall, I feel the goal should be to develop students to the point of being able to navigate through the subject matter and be able to develop and form thoughts using information and ideas of the particular "school" they are learning about.
The goal is to give the adulter learner confidence in her capacity to learn new skills and apply them to new situations and challenges. So in additional to the specific vocational skills, the student gets the soft career skills which will guide their success in the workplace.

Hi Chris:
It true, the knowledge gained from a course has to include life skills, soft skills (grooming, appearnace, courtesy, manners) along with the technical information.

Hi Jessica:
Career development touches on many areas. Good teachers will unveil that true inner self of unlimited possibility and potential. Lesser teachers will provide a curriculum with facts.

Hi Daniel:
Great thought and inspiring principle - to teach and foster the birth of the next generation of workers!

Giving them the tools necessary to be successful and help them reach their full potential.
Hi Carlos:
You've described some effective techniques.
More broadly, however we deliver and present, we need to be able to effectively transfer our knowledge and skills, based on our experience, education, training, and abilities to the next generation, not just to carry it forward, but to take it beyond where we have gone. True educators will pursue this ideal.

Hi Diana:
Yes, and we need to be able to give the equivalent of our years of knowledge, education, training, and work experience in some manner that is presented in a logical sequence and understandable and useful to the student in the workplace.

In my opinion, the goal of educating students is to prepare them for their future. It is giving them the skills they will need to succeed on the job and in life.
My goal is to inspire students, as I was inspired to make something productive of my life. You must have someone that you look up to! Someone that took the time to assist you obtain your goals!
The goal of educating students is to have them be prepared for many different things they will encounter in the workplace. This not only includes your course topics, but also lessons learned in life.
In the Career Development course I teach, I want the to leave my room knowing and using their full potential (that for many years they did not know they had). The is a big step for some students.
The goal of educating students is to prepare the students by understanding the past and to create the future of their chosen profession. We have had our opportunity and now it’s their future to create. I’m excited to see what the future brings and would like to take a little credit from my student’s successes.
I try to illustrate cause & affect principles so that students can results. I when this is possible I try to tie in the supporting theory to help clarify why the application may work.
Provide information in a manner that students can
understand and improve upon learned techniques as they progress throught their careers.
Hi Linda:
Yes, and we need graduates who can think, who can act spontaneously and solve problems, and (very important), students who can demonstrate or be taught the soft skills of getting and keeping a job (appearence, speech, dress, hygiene, courtesy, customer service, etc).
Together with knowledge and skills, here's a receipe for success.
Regards, Barry
THE ULTIMATE GOAL IS TO BE ABLE TO TEACH THEM THE SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE THAT THEY WILL NEED TO DO THEIR CAREER CHOICE.
Hi Sharon:
Yes, the transfer of knowledge and it's application to a career field or profession if a big part of the goal.
Preparing students who can think and takec their knowledge to the next level is important, as these students are part of the next generation, and change will only occur with thinking, competent students.

The goal in educating students is to prepare them in their field so that they too can be educated professionals in their careers. It is important to train them in their skills but it is just as important to train them in character development. I know a number of professionals who have trouble holding a job not because they are not skilled enough but because they do not know how to work with others or have a bad attitude.
Hi Ray:
Great. Yeah, that lifelong learning is what is going to take the next generation to places beyond whee we are at , here in the present.
Critical thinkers and those striving for more once they get a foundation are the ones that will tend to rise to successful careers.
