The goal of educating students is to have them learn as much as you can teach them about the subject. I want to be able to say at the end off the class that I have students that are fully prepared to step out into the field.
The goal is to acquire new knowledge and experience, help students to succeed, this is a life-long process.
Darron,
Right. I think being effective means having the knowledge, skilss, and attitude that is expected for their career area, and perhaps, imparting an ability for critical thinking which will help both in and out of the work setting.

the goal is to put them in a mind frame of a professional and to be successful and understanding their goal is to learn more than they did the day before and be effective with the skills they have acquired
Courtney,
Yes, we can create a vision for our students to leap to. This requires motivation on the part of both student and instructor. The notion of a better future and a satisfying life can be a strong motivator, especially to students who've not experienced too many wonderful successes in their lives.
Barry Westling
My ultimate goal would be for them to learn to love what they do for a living. Help them to reach their full potential and strive to always keep up on the latest education in their field.
Ob,
I agree. I think two other factors are very importatant: professional attitude, and crtitical thinking. If we iunleash our graduates with these they will be well prepared for the world of work.
Barry Westling
making sure that they are effective and comprehend what is being taught to ultilize their skills in the real world
Kevin,
Of course, our students must be job ready, with the skills and knowledge, along with the attitude that accompanies a professional worker.

I talk on their level. I show them my experiences and the goals I want to achieve and the steps I plan to take to get there.
Eddy,
For me, I think if we can impart the knowledge, skills, and attitude appropriate for their work, thats a great start. If we can also teach critical thinking, we will have helped them both in work and in their personal lives.

I feel we as a class are a team to succeed as one, to get them to believe and envision themselves as they learn and to follow thru in the job place after.
Daniel,
If students leave interested in lifelong learning, we will have achieved something great. Your other goals are good as well.

In my view, the goal of educating students is to lay a solid foundation of knowledge, so that they are ready for the next course of study, externship, job hunting, or whatever comes immediately following my class. I also wish to instill an increased desire to learn more and more. I want the students to stay curious and engaged in education, no matter where they may think they are headed in life. Fianlly, it is imperative that students learn critical thinking skills across the board (in all aspects of their lives).
Carl,
I envision what my expeactations are for students as successful workers in the profession who enjoy a better personal life, then commit to trying my best to do my part in making that a reality.
Barry Westling
The goal is their learning to become better and more productive in their choosen fields. But I do so want them to be better critical thinkers. Also to look to education as something they value, worthwhile and something to be excited about.
Kyle,
I try to introduce critical thinking, and strive to make that a goal. This, along with the skills, knowledge, and attitude specific to the profession aims to prepare graduates for both work and personal life situations.

Being that education is lifelong the goal is to instruct for lifelong success, giving opportunities for growth and development. It's interesting that for a career college, such as the one I work at, we need to focus a little more on the soft career skills and not just course content in order to guarantee lifelong success.
Chakita,
For me, imparting the skills, kowldge, and attitudes appropriate to the profession, along with critical thinking skills seems to prepare gradutes for both successful work careers and personal life situations.

I believe the goal is to give students the proper skills to utilizes in real life settings.
