Allen,
Great. I think whenever we can impart critical thinking skills, we help students beyond the course material, but also help them achieve success in life. With that, job readiness and successfulness is assured!

I feel the goal is to have my students be effective in the work place,to see them leave my class with a basic understanding of the subject, and problem solving skills, along with the confidence to go out and get the job done.

Diane,
Certainly, adequate instruction in all the theory and skills relative to the profession they're entering is among the gaols. I think getting students to think critically is a gift that will help them both in their career and life.

The goal of educating students is to equip them for the entire medical field and give them the tools to succeed. To give my student one on one service learning and getting expiernce while in class and out of class.

Anitra,
Learning with critical thinking prepares students for their chosen work or career environment, but also provides a foundation for approaching life experiences from a more rational, objective perspective.

Ida,
Any time we can get closer to teaching students to become critical thinkers, we will have helped them for many subsequent life experiences, even those beyond the work setting.

Barry Westling

Ida,
Yes, this is certainly an aspect of our purpose.

Barry Westling

Ida,
Right! When we've done our job appropriately, our students will be more than adequately prepared to begin work, and sustain that employment due to the instruction they received while in our charge.

Critical thinking!Students seem to forget how to apply basic thiking skills. I give my students critical thinking questions daily and I believe it helps with the learning process.

critical thinking is an important part of healtcare traing . Students must be taught how important it is to develope critical thinking, and it is a teachers responsibibity to provide an environment for them to develope this.

To assist in the expansion of the thinking process, and to assist student in vocational traing.

The goal of educating students is to prepare students to enter the work place competent, to expand their knowledge , and to enhance thir life experiences.

Nannette,
I think if all these activities are achieved for all of your students, you are and will have prepared them well.

My goal of educating my students is to give them all the knowledge and skills they will need to succede in the work force. This will include lectures, critical thinking excersises, hands on skills, and group work. I also, try to model the professional look from dress to language. I impress upon them that my goal is not only to train them to get a job, but to keep that job.

Michael,
Yes, and along with knowledge and skills, we could add attidue - the behaviors, manerisms, and language that completes a professional career-minded student serious about not only getting a good job, but keeping it! We can do this by sharing information but also by being a good role model. Students can pick up those attributes by observing our actions. Some of these skills are so important, for some, they would last a lifetime and contribute to higher levels of successfulness.

The goal in educating students is poviding them with the knoweledge and skills they need to succeed in the career they are studying.

put simply - to prepare them for their selected profession

Ariana- I agree, that as instructors, we need to prepare the students to enter the work force, or the "real world", with the skill neccessary to perform their job efficiently. But I also believe its not just about teaching tricks of the trade. We need to prepare our students for life out in the real world, such as treating others with respect, expressing a feeling to someone in a tactful way, appearing professional. Some students dont even realize there is a difference between our work and home life.

Deepika,
SKA: Skills, knowledge, and attitude. If we can convey and impart these basic tenets, we will have given our students a great start to a wonderful future indeed!
