Carmina,
For me, success on the job is the proof of a good education.
Barry Westling
To help the students develop skills that they can use in their carees and help guide them reach their potential.
Abdul,
Right. For me, something beneficial translates into useable skills and knowledge, along with a practical approach to getting along successfully in the work setting the graduate is being prepared to work in.
Barry Westling
My goal of educating students is for them to leave my class and feel as if they've actually learned something beneficial from it, and that it will be helpful for them later on in life.
Shawna,
I hope this for my students too. Much of that goal is after I have them, so my goal is to adequately provide them with the needed skills and knowledge, including soft skills.
Barry Westling
The goal of educating students is to help the student develop into a strong, confident, capable professional in their field.
Jacqueline,
A great goal to aspire to. Practical application of skills and knowledge.
Barry Westling
The goal for me in educating my students is for them to take from the classroom and be able to apply it to the real world. Since I teach vocational nursing the student are to practice in the lab and then go out to clinical and be able to practice what they learned in the classroom at the clinical floor. Helping them to grasp the concepts and procedures necessary for them to practice in a safe and educational environment is my goal for educating students.
Gregrey,
Right. Many employers have expectations beyond just the specific work duties, and these involve the professional or HR aspects of an employee. If we can give that in addition to job knowledge and skills, that'll be terrific!
Barry Westling
Not only do we give the students knowledge for their career choice but we need to help them develope skills that will help them get to the position that they want by teaching them how to interact with others
Travis,
Yes, we were hired in part because of our experience in a particular area of study (or muliple areas), and this is something students cannot acquire from books or other media.
Barry Westling
Passing on my knowledge to motivated students. I want them to learn from my mistakes and positive experiences in the field.
carlos,
I believe when students can successfully master the kills and knowledge required for employment, one primary goal will have been met.
Barry Westling
to create an environment wich the students can relate their real life experiences and professional workplace situations with text book cases and theory. The goal is to make sure that the teaching technique is the apropiate according to the students level.
Nazi,
Skills and knowledge, absolutely. If we can also provide critical thinking and other soft skills that deal with professionalism on the job, we'll be doing the students good service.
Barry Westling
Give the students tool and skills to be sucusseful in life and their carreir.
Len,
This kind of says it all. Certainly we want the basic skills and knowledge to be grasped. I believe adding professionalism and soft skills that help students keep a job once they acquire one is important. And, if we can get students to be critical thinkers, we will have helped them not just for employement but for life, even in their personal lives.
Barry Westling
The goal of educating students is a fundamental and complex process that involves the instructor’s obligation to understand the student population, their needs, and projected outcomes desired. Whether the goal is a list of basic skills, or an extensive contextual philosophy of practice, the instructor’s goal should mirror the teaching institution’s mission in obtaining the desired student outcomes as measured through testing or other proficiency measurement.
Kelly,
I like to think we're [providing both life skills that can help them in their personal lives along with the technical skill and knowledge needed for successful employment.
Barry Westling
To give them new insight to something they have not done before. Giving them knowlege and training they can learn to use.
