The information I have placed in my resource notebook consits of short facts about the programs at my university, Matriculation rates, Costs per credit, Sample job outcomes once completed with degree and follow on programs at the university to maximize educational affects in the marketplace.
Marilyn,
You're exactly right! We all need a refresher to keep us on task and performing in the way the rules expect.
Patty Aronoff
Ana,
Excellent! This is a great opportunity to develop a resource that will assist you in many years to come.
Patty Aronoff
I am printing everything I can from here so I can use it as a reference later if needed. Sometimes you just need a refresher so you dont get complacent.
Marilyn H
I added to my resource notebook all the policies and procedure that are vitsl to my job. Creating a resource notebook makes it easy to access inportant information when i need it.
Bobby,
You are correct! The oversight for your institution is by state and by federal government. We always have an avenue to declare improprieties..
Patty Aronoff
Items that I have placed in my resource notebook are as follows: Rules and Regulation, polices and procedures for my current position, points of contact or directory phone book, enrollment agreemen and academic catalog just to name a few of my tabs. I call this book my S.O.P. Standard Operating Procedure book and do not leave home without it. I am a remote employee, therefore while I travel this is what I need especially if I do not have internet connection or cannot get into my laptop. What I discovered is that we have a right to file a complaint with the US Department of Education concerning alleged failures by my organization and that we must comply with the US Department of Education’s Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
David,
Any information that is institutional specific is a great addition. Your idea of a sample document completely filled out is a great one.
Patty Aronoff
Kevin,
The resource notebook is a great asset for maintaining optimal business practices. It contains the information that you need when you need it.
Patty Aronoff
Douglas,
Thennotebook needs to be up to date in order for it to be effective. Sometimes we get so settled in our comfort zone we forget to step out and make sure that everything is in order.
Patty Aronoff
Scott,
With the resource notebook, it ensures that were all looking at the same information. Having the notebook is your go to Guide for all things compliant.
Patty Aronoff
Other than the catalog and the enrollment agreement, what else would you recommend putting in the notebook. We have one that we give to our new hires that have all the information Ex. Catalog, Enrollment agreement, course application, etc. The documents are detailed in how it supposed to be filled properly to eliminate errors in case they come to a road block when it comes to filling out paperwork. It really helps to have this important resource at their disposal, it eliminates the individual from taking up time from the other co-workers to look for the information.
Since this is my first opportunity as an admissions agent, I have found it valuable to create the resource book as my personal reference tool and to help me maintain the current business practices of the educational institution which I am employeed with.
Good Morning Patty,
I learned that I need to revisit our resource notebook to make sure everything is there. It has been a while sense I looked at it. My Admissions Representatives have been here for a long time and are very knowledgeable, but I need to make sure that they each have a copy of the Resource Notebook and that everyone is on the same page.
I completely agree...the Resource Notebook gives the admissions staff the accurate information needed to remain compliant, as well as, it allows the staff the capacity to be experts in their position with respect to their educational institution.
Diana,
Great start! Continue to add additional material to make your job easier and in compliance.
Patty Aronoff
Information about what curriculums are offered, who is the head of each department and a chart of directors and employees to name a few items
Also the commissions rules and regs
Bryan,
The resource notebook is an excellent addition to your office. It is your guiding source for all things going forward. Congratulations!
Patty Aronoff
April,
Those two resources are the most important that you will use from your notebook. Regulations from the commission guide you as a state regulatory body and your catalog guides you as the regulatory body of your campus.
Patty Aronoff
Jamie,
Excellent! The notebook will assist you for many years to come as long as it is kept current.
