not all schools need to accredited but need to be licensed.
Hi Patty,
So far I've placed the terms & definitions along with the Florida statutes in my book. As I move along in the training Im sure there is a plethora of information waiting to be added to my resource book. This book will serve as my "bible" to keep me abreast of all the information I need to know to do my job better.

On a regular basis, the following terms, among others, are used: Enrollment Agreement, Advertising, Accreditation, Program, and Scholarship. I strive to be very consistent in referring to these terms exactly as they appear, in a uniform manner, to avoid any confusion among prospective students and even staff regarding the meaning of these terms. For example, I tend to correct a prospect or staff member when referring to the Enrollment Agreement as the "Registration Form". I ensure that all of our school's materials, including the website, refer to our Agreement as the Enrollment Agreement rather than "Registration Form."
I'm apologize because of my English is not good and I need more time to understand the definitions but I'm did it and I think that this information is very important and useful for my job. I'm creating my resource notebook and I included all the information that you suggested.
Gennymar,
Excellent response. The interesting term is accreditation which students often misinterpret as being licensed. Another point, the enrollment agreement and the catalog constitute the contract.
Judy,
The statutes are there to protect everyone including both the students and the institution.
Judy,
Also add the Administrative Rules which explain the statutes. We are in legislative session which is a good exercise in watching government in action. This is the only time of year when statutes can be changed.
Christian,
Great advice! Tailoring the notebook to your school makes it a valuable tool.
Kathleen,
Excellent points! Make the notebook your own. When it comes to the catalog, be sure to include any addendums and that all are up-to-date.
Candace,
You bring an interesting point to the table. Everywhere that the student is exposed to the school is a marketing opportunity. Personally developed leads come from those opportunities.
Robert,
Thank you for the feedback. Don't be shy about making the notebook work for you. Having the information available makes the opportunity to share with the prospective student right at your fingertips.
Frederick,
How do you ensure that students fully understand these terms and how they relate to their contract with your school?
I am most delighted to discover that there are Statutes that must be followed. The accreditation and regulations for Lincoln Technical Institute provides a foundation that students and employees can be proud of.
I have placed the following documents in my Resource Notebook; School Catelog, blank enrollment agreement, telephone directory, Tuition and fee schedule. I have learned that there are many Florida Statutes that must be followed in order to be licensed with the Florida Commission of Education. I was not aware of the Actions Against a Licensee and other penalties.
Accreditation is a term that is very frequently used. Students always ask if the school is accredited and sometimes we have to explain exactly what that means. The definition would be, "Accrediting agencies provide volunteer membership for institutions and act as gatekeepers for federal funding program participation if they are approved and recognized by the US Department of Education. Different types of Accreditations are National, Regional, or Programmatic". Enrollment and Enrollment Agreement are commonly used as well.
Enrollment is, "Registering a student to take programs or courses at an institution when such registration obligates the student to pay tuition to the institution and obligates the institution to provide instruction to the student. An Enrollment Agreement is a binding contract that is signed by applicants to licensed institutions as well as by authorized personnel at the institution.
My resource notebook as all of our institutions programs and diplomas included. I've found it helpful to include helpful points to note from various program managers so that they students fully understand the expectation not only of the school but of the program managers. I've learned that we require a different test in place of the TOFL for internation language students.
I have placed Accreditation information, Enrollment information along with Enrollment agreement, Marketing information , Program information, regulations and rules and statutes and Title IV information. I have included a catalog as well.
I have placed a school catalog along with a copy of the rules and regulations of the institution. I have also placed any enrollment-related (blank) forms in my Resource Notebook as a reference in the event that I have a question regarding our processes and procedures. I have discovered that we have many types of marketing other than simply internet.
Enrollment Agreement - A legally binding contract signed by the applicant and institution that forms the agreement and terms of enrollment between the two parties.
Program - The group of courses required to master a set of skills and knowledge that, upon successful completion, leads to a certificate, diploma or degree.
Accreditation - Agengies that provide volunteer membership and act as "gatekeepers" for federal funding program participation if approved and recognized by the US Department of Education.
The notebook is a great idea. Having information on regulations from the Florida Department of Education as well as the college's training and marketing literature allows me to find answers to questions I have. The notebook will be a great tool for our admissions department.
