Thacha,
The enrollment agreement and the catalog constitute the contract between the student and the school.

Patty Aronoff

stephanie,

Great post! You have not only stated the definition but also explained it. Definitions can be found in both statute and rule.

Patty Aronoff

Frank,

The catalog and the enrollment agreement explain the rules of the institution.

Patty Aronoff

Maria ,

Scholarships must be approved by the Commission and all terms for application expressed.

Patty Aronoff

Michael,
I trust you are using the term "Commission" to refer to the Commission for Independent Education.

Patty Aronoff

David,
I would suggest that you take that proposed catalog and as you read through the regs, check the references with the document. A great way to learn!

Patty Aronoff

Matthew ,
Everyone needs to understand accreditation and how it does affect their education. It is probably the most commonly misused and misunderstood definition.

Patty Aronoff

nedric,

Excellent! Thank you for your posting!

Patty Aronoff

Michael,

Make sure the scholarship criteria has been approved by the Commission and the terms are prominently expressed.

I would have to say the term Enrollment Agreement is commonly used during the admission process.

Information that I have placed in the resource notebook are the instituion catalog, enrollment agreement and now I've just added the rules and regulations. One rule and regulation i was not aware of is that a background check or criminal justice information was required. But i guess it makes since we are dealing with potential students education and finances.

Term: Placement Services
Definition: Office to help our students find work in the areas in which they have been trained.
Term: Student Payment Plan
Definition: A written agreement between the student and the school to make scheduled payments.
Term: FAFSA
Definition: Free Application For Federal Student Aid
Term: Clock Hour
Definition: No less than 50 minutes of any one clock hour during which the student participates in a learning activity in the physical presence of a faculty member.

I put in my notebook the Accreditation and licencing information regarding my institucion. I think it is extremly important for student to know the background of the school before enrolling to classes.

We explain what is the Enrollment Agreement to our new students, the institution's Programs, and the Rules of the Institution for the Administration, the Staff and as well for the Students.

I just started to put The Resource Notebook. It is going to be our "Bible" and SOP's. It will be handy to our staff so the can understand why we do the things we do base to The State of Florida regulations and The Commission for Independent Education.

Porsche,

I completely agree with you! I have been putting together my notbook and it is a great tool for me to stay up to date with all of the rules and rgulations and procedures. I highly recomend to keep it as updated and organized as possible so when you need to refference something quickly you can do so. I separate 10 minutes every other day to sort through mine and update it as needed.

There are many terms and deffinitions used on a daily basis in my institution. The most prominet are Accreditation, Adverstising, enrolment agreement, Institution, Marketing,Program, Scolarship, Rules, regulations and Scolarship

We often use the following terms:

Program
Enrollment
Commission
Enrollment Agreement
Scholarship

I have added Rule 6E, the definitions, our catalog, and our enrollment agreement.

I am not sure since we are a new institution that has not even yet submitted our paperwork to the Florida Commission for Independent Education.

I am taking this course because I will be responsible as the admissions representative.

I have asked our director for a copy of the institution catalog that she has developed. That should help me to submit more questions to the forum and also perhaps help me also aid in further development of the paperwork we need to submit to the Commission.
