Rachel ,
It is a learning process. That is what is exciting about what we do. It is ever-changing bringing new opportunities to learn and grow.

There is always something new to learn about
I believe that I know a lot about my institution, however there is always room for improvements and there is always something new to learn everyday
As a relatively new member of the team at my institution, I would say that I'm still in the learning process. My institution-related knowledge is increasing daily, but I would say that right now I have very general knowledge about the school.
Right now I'm in the process of learning the ins and outs of the programs I will be enrolling for, as well as the process of enrollment we are establishing. As we are just opening the programs for online, we're in a very fluid sort of stage. Certain steps will remain the same, however we're taking it step by step to find what works best for this program.
We pride in not misrepresenting any information when it comes to career placement and the time it takes to meet financial goals
I have worked at my institution for almost eight years, so my knowledge is quite broad. I understand the role of each department and each staff member.
I feel comfortable with the knowledge I have so far with respect to my Institution, however, there is always something to learn. Particularly with changes in Standards, policies and procedures. It is beneficial, in my opinion to stay abreast with the changes and not assume knowledge. In other words, double check when in doubt.
I rate my knowledge as continuously learning, everyday I learn something new.
In the last 3 years that I have been a part of this institution my knowledge has grown tremendously from interacting with other professional in the industry as well as my coworkers and courses I have taken. I am extremely confident in my abilities to educate prospective students in compliance with all requirements. That being said, every year I learn so much more. For example, how to better keep up to date on regulation changes. Last year I did not print the chart for updating my documents but with another year under my belt I can see how greatly that will help me.
I knew the general information about our program but this course has encouraged me to dig deeper by scouring the catalog and sitting in on a class.
Being that I've worked for a number of post-secondary institutions, this one is very different as it is an actual brick and mortar campus and I've only worked online.
I am learning about giving tours, working face-to-face with prospective students, and the way they do Financial Aid/Registrar, etc.
While it is somewhat different, it takes getting used to - for example, not giving too much information about the school over the phone, or they wil not have a reason to come into the school.
I understand my institution vision and mission statements and assisted with the creation of our catalog. This has allowed me to be very knowledgeable about the course offering, the teaching methods and the targeted students.
best Mark
Kelly,
Congratulations on your new school! There is always something new to learn and you have a whole new world ahead of you.

Sherri,
My suggestion is to get to know people in the industry. The best experts are those that actually are in those career fields. They will share their experiences, their challenges, and their dreams.

Rita,
I am very happy for you! Non- traditional students offer a new set of challenges to higher education. Most people have jobs or lack of jobs. They have children or they have other obligations that they must need a balance in life.

Shelly,
She is a solid resource for you. It is great to have that in your department to refer to.

I have worked in post-secondary education for 15 years and have managed a few different types of organizations. We are starting a brand new vocational school with programs that I am unfamiliar with. Basically we are starting everything from scratch. Every day is a new learning experience but very fun!
I find that IT is an area I just don't understand, no matter how much I read about the duties or the positions one can obtain after obtaining a degree.
I must find a way to get a deeper understanding in this area.
After working for over 13 years in recruitment and enrollment at another college whose primary student base was traditional students, I am now working primarily with non-trads. My institution serves a predominately non-traditional student population whose average age is 29. We cater to working professionals with online and hybrid courses. Our traditional student population makes up only about 25% of our total enrollment. My institution is small and very personal. The quality of interaction between faculty, staff and students is high and very positive. I love working here!
I would rate my knowledge as high because of the training from my director. She is very systems orientated and has everything spelled out and the resources are readily available.
