We offer programs through 5 different schools: School of Information Technology, School of Electronics Technology, School of Drafting and Design, School of Criminal Justice, and School of Health Sciences. I have mostly learned about the career opportunities that students train for by meeting with each of the Program Chairs as well as sitting down with our Career Services staff.
we offer different technical programs that are highly demanded by employers actually
Meeting with the instructors is a great way to introduce the student to the programs and coursework, but having a great understanding of the courses is mandatory for the rep.
We specialize in technical programs. The best way to learn the programs are to meet with the Chairs and Instructors for course content and how they build on each other. I also talk to the students and visit labs to see how it works.
We offer many technology-based programs as well as criminal justice, drafting, HIT and nursing. In order to ensure I know what the industry for our students is like, I chat with the people in our Career Services department to understand particular positions our students are obtaining and what possibilities each field of study holds.
We have different technology programs and we keep informed about new or changed programs through a product knowledge session held every quarter on every school we have as well as career service and other departments.
Another suggestion is to stay in touch with alumni. We will sometimes bring alumni back into the school to speak with our classes about what they have been doing since graduation and how their education has helped them to be successful. We have even had several speak at graduation ceremonies!
We have quaterly trainings for the programs we offer. Each program chair does a presentation about what is covered and the opportunities that may be availible.
We offer technical programs. The best way to learn the programs are to meet with the instructors who have work related experience in that particular field in addition to sitting in on some of the classes being taught, as well as visiting employers in the industries that we trained our students for.
These are all great ideas and sound very similar to some of the activities we do at our school.
We found the meetings with the Program Chairs to be very beneficial as the representatives actually get to use the programs and equipment the students will be using in class.
Another thing our school does is regularly bring business owners in the fields that we train our students in to have discussions with the Prgram Chairs on the ins and outs of the carriculum. They are allowed to offer suggestions on items that should be added/taken out, which are submitted to our corporate office in order to keep the carriculum relevant.
