I made sure I know all the different departments in our campus. (Admissions, FA, Registrar, Student Services, Librarian and Program Directors) Each Member of our department is key to the assistance and success of our future graduates. Also it is important to know the involment of our school within the community and outside organizations.
I would say that based on what I read in Module 3 that I have a good knowledge of my institution. I was recently given the task of revising the organizational chart. This gave me great insight into reporting relationships and inter-departmental connection. Our Senior Leadership Team is also working on mapping and improving processes. This has given all of us a chance to discover more about what each department does.
I am in admissions and administration. I have to access my policy manual, and catalog, several times a week. Each time I do I become more familiar with our policies and more fluid in conversations with both new and current students.
I agree,since I am working as an Admission Rep, i see it is very important to know who I am working with, It is the best way to know more about each department and their areas as well I can talk to the prospects with knowledge about my work.
i would rate myself in the 80% percentile. i know about my institution rules and regulations and i know most of the services we offer. However, i'm discovering new things everyday. This is a new experience for me and i'm discovering something new everyday. Learning about my institution student services and what we offer and how to properly convey that to new students is new to me.
I have been employed with this institution for six months in enrollment services and have had some brief training on admissions and enrollment.
I have been working here for eight months. My background was in Real Estate, what I consider a sales field. As an Admissions rep I find my sales knowledge key in representing my school. As far as the specifics I am learning all about my school, but its my ability to sell and close a deal is my strength.
Agree, the organizational chart is very helpful to me to locate every department as needed
I think that I am knowlegdable about what my institution has to offer, but I also attend to the clinic to learn more update and keep me current so that I can delivery the correct information with prospective students about policies and procedures and all information about all aspects of attending to our institution which is the key to helping them make a right decision.
The Enrollment Team is very well informed as to the programs this institution offers, admissions procedures and student services available. I would say I am very knowledgeable regarding enrollment / admissions policies and procedures but what I have learned as a result of taking this course is that this institution is a bit lacking in communicating throughout all departments. I now realize to best do my job I have to be proactive in retrieving this information.
I believe I should know everything about our institution.I found it very valuable to eduacte my self from the school catalogs, programs discription and many different document.I also went to the open clinic to educate myself about all of the the services we provide at our institute
I am very familiar with the marketing practices at our school as I participate in a lot of outside events. I am getting to know the admissions procedures better every day. I find that it is important to participate in department meetings to keep current in all practices.
As a fairly new admissions staff member- I am constantly learning new things about the school every day. I feel that I am more knowledgeable each day. The most important thing is following the organizational chart and knowing where to find answers. If you are not sure of an answer to a student's questions- you should not make something up based on something you are not entirely sure about.
* School goals to send our qualified and confident students into this world new to them
* state, and schools rules & regulations
* school hours and staff
* requirements of students to register and to complete training
* Cost of programs and requirement to enter work force
* Where and how to get a job in these fields we teach
* Help with taking exams
* How to help students to make the best choice of schools to suit their needs
As a long term admissions member of this institution- I know quite a bit about every department in the school. I have been involved in many planning sessions. It is also my job to ensure that other admissions staff is current on any changes made.
Being in admissions- I know how important it is to know detailed information about each program including courses offered, tuition and fees, length of the program and requirements. I rate my knowledge of my current institution as good. It is hard to know everything within the first couple of months. It is also important to know where to find information that you might need.
I have been working in this school for over a year; and since then I feel like my training has not stop yet. We have to be in top of our knowledge product, procedures and regulations all the times. The training we have received from you it is excellent, and of course has been reinforced it.
Mary,
Glad you have learned from the forum. Good luck!
Lynn,
I agree with your thoughts. It takes an entire school to develop a graduate.
I agree with this statement. I am always learning at our institution. That is what makes my job so interesting.
I also have a copy of our organizational chart and refer to it often. I have also met with the different departments and have a good idea of their functions.
I find every department in our institution very helpful and cooperative. Which makes for a pleasant work environment.
