Michael,

The staff at CIE are there is help you and provide guidance in the proper way to remain compliant.

Patty Aronoff

Maydelin,

We can provide them guidance on where to do their research and valid resources. Your career services department can assist you in this area.

Patty Aronoff

Shelley,

Good advice! All information must be backed by relevant, current and verifiable sources.

Patty Aronoff

Amalo,

True! The term counselor brings a different meaning. The title counselor denotes you have had specific training in counseling.

Patty Aronoff

Scott,

There is no compromise when it come to compliance. It we do not subscribe to it, we are in the wrong.

Patty Aronoff

I would say it acts as a guideline to help us keep compliant. Mainly helping the student understand that they have the choice and we are simply there to answer their questions(without steering) and our goal again is to show them places where possible they can get their information.

I don't know as of yet. I am recently taking over as Program Director and I am still learning the rules. What I can tell you, my place of work was recently audited and DOE found that our tracking program was not up to par. The DOE representative was very helpful and knowledgeable of the state statutes and guided our institution toward the proper path.

I usually tell students to do their own research, employment demands and salaries can vary from city/state.

I only stick with the factual information that can be verified and that are clearly within the guidelines. When a prospective students ask what the industry is paying I always give them only what is published and even let them know that this information is available on the Department of Labor website to back up our statements.

In the State of Florida we are not allow to refer to ourself as Admissions Counselors. You have to have a counseling degree in Florida, so we are Admissions Representatives.

It certainly helps keep you compliant. I think it is also helpful because once the prospective student receives all the information, they are able to make a more informed decision; thus, making for a more solid/committed student and potential graduate.

Yes, I agree with giving them the BLS stats and always encourage them to do their own research as well. This also helps them solidify their decision for getting into their career choice.

These regulations maintain compliance at the representative level by establishing clear guidelines that govern our practices. Maintaining compliance is critical to providing true and correct information to our prospective clients.

Frank,
Absolutely! More students are coming in already having done their own research.

Patty Aronoff

Mayra,

Understanding the rules and laws of the Commission will help you remain compliant .

Patty Aronoff

Deshire,

It also gives credibility to what you have projected. I have students talk with current faculty who have e field experience.

Patty Aronoff

I believe that regulatory requirements ensure that all representatives of the institutions are well-informed when speaking to prospective students so they can make an informed decision. The regulations ensure that we remain compliant with the rules created to protect the consumer against misinformation.

It is important to know and understand the requirements of the Florida Commisision for Independent Education to perform as an admission representative. Give the best service to prospective students.

Mayra Rivera

I believe the admissions representative or agent should adhere to the Independent Education requirements. It is better when someone already in the field gives information to the prospective students, it will give what I would call peace of mind when someone experienced gives advise or serves as a mentor.

Holly,
We can unintentionally mislead if we do not actively research and provide accurate information.
