Steps to Enrollment

List the steps of the enrollment process at your school starting with the moment you formally accept the new student. This includes all paperwork to be completed and what you are to do with the paperwork when complete.

We have a file checklist that is a part of the students file that is marked off before turing file in.

Keven,

We are required to keep personal information confidential and secure. When it comes to financial aid much of their personal information is restricted.

Olga,

I would agree! As a checklist provides you information quickly, it is also used as an audit tool.

Orville,

Excellent! Every opportunity to learn and grow both as prospective students and staff.

After formally acceptance of student they would then fill out any required information in the financial department and filed away in safe location.

The check list is crucial for admissions paperwork. An organized and complete file is very important

That is a great exercise that we have done and helps everyone involved in the enrollment process.

YULIET,

It is a great tool for compliance and for consistency and making sure that all students complete the paperwork

Steve,

Nothing wrong with the old paper trail. In many cases it's just having a form and making it work.

Carmen D.,
There is a great sense of achievement checking off the box. It keeps everyone on the same page and working towards the same goal.

Maria,
That is a similar practice that is followed by many institutions. Step-by-step we walk them through the enrollment process and ensure that all the documentation is attained.

Giseana,
That is great! It is a partnership and getting the test done. It to do list keeps everyone on the same path and requires checking.

In my opinion checklist in the admission process is an extremely important step that help us to accomplish the student enrollment without deficiencies.

We are a small institution and still use paper and folders (and file cabinets)
We have a check list printed on the folder. as the New Student progresses thru the process we just check off the box and add the date or other info concerning that item. This works well, at a glance we can see what the next step is. The Folders are also colored so we know which option the New Student is working on for Payment of Tuition.

We do the same. With a checklist form they know which is the next step.

When a prospective student indicates they would like to enroll in our school (and we have ascertained that they meet our qualifications for enrollment) we make copies of the required docs (picture ID, h.s. diploma, etc) and complete the enrollment agreement, making sure to explain the withdraw and refund policies at this time. If students are below the age of 18, their parent or guardian must also sign the EA. A copy of the EA is given to the student and the original doc and the copies of above-mentioned documents are placed in the student's permanent academic file. Before the student actually enroll, they have met with the financial aid department, and know whether they qualify for federal financial aid, or if they must pay for the program themselves. Paper files are kept in our school

I also have a checklist, that goes in the student file. And I give the student a check list, so that way they can keep track of what they have turned in and what they still need to turn in.

rosa,

Excellent practice! We have to validate the documentation these days. There are many bogus or diploma mills that put out transcripts.

Julia,
Staying between the lines and following the rules. These are great habits to have.
