Harvard Business School

I really enjoy watching the Harvard Businesss School clips/tips. They're both entertaining and informative.

EL104 - Good course to review online needs

Thought this course was well written and summarized all the stress that a student can potentially experience while taking an online course. Now add home life and work to that mix!

Road blocks can stop students in their tracks..it is very important for us to remember that not everything is as obvious as we think it is.

Worth it.

Great information.  Worth the time it takes to get through it!

Stress Free Course

I enjoyed this course. It helped me realize stress can come from many different factors, but not all of them are necessary. There are ways to eliminate stressors and reduce them. The tips for healthy stress reducers made me realize that simply stepping away from a situation to get some air can help reduce stress very easily.

Effective Course

I found this training to be effective in that I now have a better understanding of the techniques used to be an effective teacher.

Course

This course was very informative. It helped me to understand what testing should really be about.

Loved the course

I learned quite a bit from the information presented in this class.  In fact, I copied and saved many different tips that I will use in my next class.  I especially liked the videos from Harvard and the tips on discussions.  Thank you!  Heather

Good training

comment on ed103

I completed ed103 it was very informative and will be used in my classroom. I enjoyed the different styles of test question, and student evaluations.

KEEPING STUDENT'S ATTENTION

THE INSTRUCTOR IS NOT ONLY AN INSTRUCTOR BUT ALSO AN ENTERTAINER WHO USES COURSE CONTENT , STORY TELLING, DRAMA, HUMOR, VOICE PITCH AND TONE VARIATIONS TO HOLD THE STUDENTS ATTENTION.

Holding students' atention

Vary your voice volume, tone and pitch often to stimulate the students' listening processes

Classsroom management

ed 104 was very helpful in focusing on aspects of classroom management which may be overlooked or diminished by repetition of the course materials.

Students who just dont get it.

You might want to try the: Tell, Tell, Tell Technique:

Tell the student what is going to be discussed.

Tell the discussion.

Tell them why it was discussed.

We know that we have our students attentions within the first 10mins. and the last 10mins. of teaching a material, thats when we need to make our lessons to instruct them count during this time frame.

implementing

I suppose that the hardest part is accepting criticism.  As an assistant dean, part of my job is guiding my teachers through both the training and the implementation.  I've had more than my share of teachers who tell me what great ideas are found in trainings -- but who go right back to the same old thing because it's easier.  it's not much esaier for me, I'm just as human as the next person.  I've found that, every now and again, the best way to force myself to implement what I've learned is to hit the delete button and get… >>>

Learning Disablities: Not just one!

Wow! There are many challenges that we face as instructors.  The challenge of proving to ourselves and others that we are knowledgeable enough to teach the subject we have been given charge over.  And then after we have presented the best lesson in the history of teaching..... They just don't get it.  Then we go back to the drawing board..... They just can't get it.  They just can't get it.  How many times have we heard this from our students?

I thoroughly enjoyed this module because it widened my perspective about learning disabilities and offered me suggestions on how to… >>>

Course Information

I enjoyed this course.  Being new to the field, I appreciated the information gleaned from this course.  I'm sure I will utilize these skills in my instruction.  This course gives me more confidence to begin instructing.

Environment

It is very important that as the instructor you create an open and positive environment.  First of all, you need to allow the students to understand where you are coming from.  They should understand that respect to all is very important in creating an  open environment.  You want your students to feel comfortable with you and also with their classmates. If they are both of these things then they will come to you with their needs instead of feeling pressured.  This will also create an open door policy for all of the needs of your students.

ED103

I like this course because it helped me see the importance of asking questions. Sometimes as an instructor you get into the lecture mode and forget to ask questions. Asking questions is really the only way to see if your students are understanding what is being taught. the questions should allow for more than a yes or no response as well.

ed103

The ed103 course was veray informative in seeing the diverent methods of making tests, and a better way to evaluate students/
