ED102

One test question I strongly disagree with, regarded a student
griping. I strongly feel these incidents should be addressed immediately by administrators;
otherwise, the “grape vine” will make this an issue that will not go away
anytime soon, and could leave the institution with a black eye.

Stress Management

We need to concentrate of exercise and not drinking, overeating, etc. This is hard when we are always on the go. Eat many small meals throughout the day.

Assessment

I loved the idea of CAT's. I ask questions and use Turning Point Responders "clickers" to get feedback. The quick and short written CAT's reminds me that sometimes low tech is just as good as the new high tech. Any thoughts?

I very much enjoyed participation in this stress management course.  The presentation and materials I found interesting and easy to follow with numerous good examples given in each section.  I know the material presented will be helpful to me and will make my life easier overall in managing daily stressors.  Thanks for a great course.

Classroom management

I appreciate the information on silent students as the mini- panel is a great idea to get introverted students to participate.  It is at times difficult to assess if these quiet students understand the information being presented and small group discussions and panels may illicit more responses from these students.

The Good Teacher

The good teacher knows and understands students, how they develop and learn. I know that students actively construct and transform their own knowledge based on past experiences and prior learning. I know that students do not all learn in the same way or at the same rate. I believe it is my responsibility as a teacher to be an effective diagnostician of students’ interests, abilities, and prior knowledge. I must then plan learning experiences that will both challenge and allow every student to think and grow.

Great Insights from ED104

ED104 really helped reinforce some good habits that I already use, but also reminded me of some methods that I have let go of, but really need to bring back again. I realize how important it is to put myself in the students' shoes first. They're all so different, and I am not from their same generation, background, habit circles, etc. It's much more rewarding and less frustrating when I remember that they are here to learn, and it just might take a few new methods to turn the lightbulb on in them

Education Performance

It is our duty as instructors to help our students to succeed.  We must help them realize their potential, while not giving everything to them.  I am glad that I completed the ED 104 module.  I am sure that I will be able to make use of the information to help me to refine my teaching techniques.  I will make sure that I enter my successes here and ask for help with my difficulties.

ED 101

This class was very helpful for me as a new instructor. It helped me see that i am already practicing the ideas that were presented in the course.

Good Refresher

Just good refresher for hints on topics we all have in common with adult education..

Education 104

This course has been very motivating.  It has allowed me to realize we all have some of the same issues in our classrooms no matter what subject we are teaching.  I'm not ready to give up, thank you.

EL 102- Teaching Online-You think you know everything......

The EL 102 course really helped me to further my knowledge of how to manage and maintain my courses and students online.  I have been teaching online for two years and I thought I had all the knowledge I needed until I took this course.  The one thing that stood out for me is finding out the different type of learners online i.e. noisy, avoiders, intimidators, and procrastinators.  The course really gave me great ideas on how to manage these different type of learners and how to resolve problems in the discussion forums.  These techniques really opened my eyes on… >>>

ED 101

I just finished ED 101.  Powerful course.  Good reminders of what a good instructor needs.  I highly recommend this course to both novice and experienced instructors.

index cards

The index card with name interest, ect. is a great idea. I have asked verbally.  I think this will bring the class together much better.

Thanks, Debra Kane

Tree Diagram for Lesson Planning

I really enjoyed this course and have inputted the tree diagram concept in my lesson plans.  Also, the index card ideas I have implemented as well.  In addition, I will also incorporate more walking around the classroom the first day to better observe the nonverbal communication of the students.

This class has been very interesting for me, there is so much great information I feel like every instructor needs to recieve!

Perfect for New Hires

Participating in these online courses I have found that is helps prepare new Instructors. Holding this position year after year I tend to forget how it was when I first began this journey. I take notes from these courses and use them as an outline with new hires in hopes they take it to heart.

Education 103

Reinforced the courses I've already taken, it's always good to have a refresher.
