Great Course!

Well, all good things come to an end however it was a great ride! I like the idea of a project to contact all former students! It's on the to do list! As well doing the free Blood Pressure checks! As to evaluations, we do them for the courses that students complete. We are in the process of adding a continuing ed course in consultation with our employer/training partners. Thank you for the knowledge and the ideas of how to implement it! Adieu! Ed

Great stuff once again but what about the big schools?

O.K so I have done what I said in a previous post and we have revamped our website. From all of your posts I have learned that I have a way to go, and that in particular we need to get testimonials up on the site (after receiving a signed release). A couple of comments questions: 1) If radio and TV aren't the best place for advertising, then why do the big schools use them (i.e., Phoenix, Everest, etc)? 2) I love the discussions about Signage and I have three new tasks to complete as a result of reading the posts: get something big and permanent on the main street, possibly at the nearest bus shelter; use our employers as a place to put signs; get portable "standup" banners to use for fairs etc. 3) Magnetic signs for vehicles and t-shorts! Portable signs. I am also going to approach the local TV channel to do a live remote on their morning show at our school as a public service announcement. THANK YOU ALL! Ed

More great ideas! THANK YOU!

I have taken the new approach that Publicity is the core of a Marketing plan. We have begun to network by joining the local Chamber of Commerce. Next we are going to revamp our web site using our students, graduates, training partners and employers’ input. We are scheduling a “Grand Opening/Open House” with t-shirts that advertise our “new” web site. We are going to publicize it with a press release. Describing the benefits of the program to the community. And finally we are going to publish a monthly one-page newsletter to post electronically on our web site and send to our students, grads, employers, training partners, and prospective students. We are going to create a database of e-mail addresses to send these to. The newsletter will include a Good news story of a past Grad (with a signed release), and will also be sent as a press release. Oh yeah . . . and we will be adding a “Testimonials” page to our web site; made up of text, audio and video. Not bad for a two person school. And the Mall is awaiting for Saturday “guerilla marketing”. Follow up at least 7 times in different ways with each lead. Of course one thing at a time; and Measure, Measure, Measure! Thanks for the great ideas! Ed

FANTASTIC Ideas!

I just finished reading through all of your postings about the various methods the you folks use to generate excitement and build relationships within your schools. AWESOME! I have made a list that will become my new plan. It will include: 1) Hosting Charity Events and Open Houses. 2) Press releases about Grads. 3) Checks to students that make referrals. 4) Giving t-shirts away as walking advertisements. Thank you for all of the ideas! Wow . . . I'm gonna start with an Open House and an e-mail coupon for grad referrals that will give their referral a tuition reduction and the referee a check after one month, and start planning a charity event in the fall. Pretty awesome! THANK YOU ALL!

Phone

Learn to increase my "gift of gab" on the phone. Keeping it short but sweet while retrieving the essentials I need to make an appt.

What would be the top five skills that would be best to focus on?

Perhaps on a daily basis - then on a weekly basis and then, on a longer period of time, monthly.

How can communication be best managed with parent and student together

Would it be best to direct the message to the student and then look to the parents body language for their response?

Rapport

What skills do you need to build rapport with a studen?
