Hi everyone; I am curious about any regulations about disposal of student files. Can someone use a personal shredder in their office, or must you have a professional company shred your files? Are you required to keep a record of when you shredded your files? thanks Sandra

being someone who has had obstacles to overcome but has pushed forward to be successful I love meeting others that have done the same because it's so inspiring. Here are a couple... 1. A student who was in a wheelchair (totally no use of legs) but wanted to work in a field (collision repair) that required a lot of mobility. Not only did he get training, but he came up with great techniques that could be used to help others in the same situation and when he graduated (at the top of his class) he left school with a great job. 2. A employee who suffered from ADHD and had a spinal issue that left him in constant pain. He overcame and capitalized on what others might see as a limitation and moved up through the ranks to become a VP for the company. It's corny but true, where there's a will there's truly a way so we need to not add to any limitations but instead offer suggestions on how to overcome.

If a student applies for a program and there disability will not allow them to complete the course, is that student entitled to a full or partial refund even the the law prevents the institution to ask about a disability during enrollment?

Do you believe that a student with PTSD (from for instance being in the military and serving in Iraq) should be deemed a disability and thereby acknowledged by accomodations?

Are there ANY institutions that do NOT have accommodations in place for disability students? If so, what state and how?

If a person has a psychological disability and are sheltered yet focused, if they become more socialable is it likely for them to get distracted?

How far back does the disability history go to consider is protected by federal law if no occurences in a while?

when involved in recruitment efforts, school representative should focus on providing accurate information about the school and its programs.

I do not work in our financial aid department, but as I understand there is a separation of duties regarding which financial aid analysts can compile the financial aid plan for students who are then transitioned to another financial aid representative who assists them as they are continuing students. The duties of the financial aid department cannot be duplicated by anyone in the enrollment or registrar department.

We are currently working on an improved system as we speak. From having a control on the admissions pieces tht are produced, and a centralized repository of this standard data collection. Once the standard data collection is complete, and a standard template by program, is developed - these materials will be approved by compliance, marked approved, and campuses will be able to centrally order materials as well.

STUDENTS RECEIVE THEIR TRAINING MATERIALS ON THEIR FIRST DAY.

I have worked in admissions before and so I have had some great experiences that influence what I believe my role is. I believe my role is ask questions and determine is the school is a good fit the student, but also that the student it a good fit for the school. Then it is my duty be create a professionsl, comfortable and pleasant admissions experience for the student.
