other preparations

In addition to providing efficient instructors, you need programs in place to assist struggling learners. There needs to be programs in place to assist students with additional academic needs.

Admission Process and Retention

The length of time a prospective student spend researching the school does affect the retention process positively.

working together

Working together as a whole is always going to make the school as a whole a much better place to work

students/customers

I feel that students are our greatest customers because as a school we are creating a wonderful place for them to shop with their minds and dream of bigger things

Faculty Commitment to Retention

Faculty has a lot of course preparation to deal with. Yes, retention is important. However, the main role a faculty should have to play is identifying the at risk students and inform the right personnel. This should be done if the problem the student is having might affect them academically.

mentoring

I like to mentor my students as much as possible. to me this is the key to teaching success.

Retention Should Start at Orientation

I believe the students should be exposed to this conversation at orientation. Here at the orientation we should have the necessary personnel at the orientation to introduce themselves and their roles so the new students can know the go to person....

Orientation

Although retention starts in the admissions process. It's in orientation that you build in the foundation for retention strategies.

Reaching the goal

At the beginning of a new program, I congratulate the students on their first accomplishment. This is a big step for them as they want a change in life. So, I do let them know that I am here to guide them down their educational pathway to reach their overall goal of graduating from the program. We will both reach our goals as long as we communicate with each other.

Admissions & Retention

This is a great "Goal". To enroll students with similar core commonalities to those who graduate and are in the field. If only it was always practice!!

First Week

Took away a few new practical ideas from this course. Thank You

Faculty & Retention

Faculty surely play an extremely important role in student retention. But since most students are quite and reserved during their first week, making them feel that we are just people here to educate them and to share our career experience with them.

Orientation

As a previous Program Director, I always encouraged admissions staff to invite my faculty as part of thier orientation.

Students Expectations

It's important that building Institutional credibility and sharing students expectations should be shared to staff when enrolling students.

The Importance of Organizational Culture RT 104

Now, this subject is helpful to the school as well as to students. Both students as well as the employees of the school from admissions to financial to instructors should know the WHY/WIIFM answers. First employees are to guide and help students to work toward the successful completion of studies. Students on the other hand should keep their vision in mind that landed them into the school, and make this vision become reality. Everyone is then working toward the common shared goal of having a successful great school.

Making a positive Imapct RT 104

I think one of the best ways to make a positive impact on the student is demonstrating as instructor/teacher your believe in them just as they themselves believe that they will succeed.

our business is changing lives

To help students succeed with their studies, remind them to look toward the future, the day they will have finished classes... Will that be wonderful...I have a career...woohoo! Or.. remind them of the desire that nudged them to start classes, or... that they are doing this to have a better life....

Model, Mentor, Monitor

An instructor who guides the student, showing she/he believes they will do well in ones studies, already works to helping the student succeed. By having the student practicing subjects several times and guiding and correcting them the instructor monitors and hold the student accountable to do well.

Bilding Retention Program

some of the retention building programs contributing to student success involve advising or counseling, tutoring, communication systems, open door policy, etc.

Retention is everybody's job

I believe a school should regularly discuss ways to improve retention rates. Make sure new faculty are trained in where to go to help a student. Good communication is key.
