Hi Roy:
Time and experience will help. You can mentor him on the mechanics and basics, and he'll gradually learn more successful ways to manage his classes. His success because of your efforts should inspire you.

Hi Mary:
I agree, and think that that we are in control of ourselves as well. In time management, we all have the same amount of time, its just how we manage that time. Same thing with preparation.
Regards, Barry
Hi Brian:
All students deserve the full measure of instruction they've paid for. I agree that being rushed increases the chance of not enough emphasis or missed information. Preparedness tends to prevent these snafu's.

Hi Annette:
One way to express the importance of preparedness is being ready, as you say, ready for the lesson, quesions, interruptions, delays, students needing more time, re-explanations, etc. "Making a hit to outfieled on a curve ball" shows the students you're ready for whatever circumstance you encounter.

Hi Susan:
Organization does make for more effectiveness. Gathering our thoughts, materials, and resources provides the opportunity to have everything ready to go when class starts.

I have to be organized and prepared to teach or I will not be as effective as I would like to be. I will find myself worring about what I should have done and I won't be confident in what I am trying to get across to the students.
I've founded that when you are prepared and organized the class runs smoothly and you have there attention of the course that you are teaching them. Not only you are prepared for class but you are prepared for any questions that the students may ask. And the most important thing is that the students get to thinking about how organized and prepared you are and how much time you have put into this course. If you are not prepared they know that and then there focus is lost and confused, and you are putting yourself across to students as being disorganized and unprepared.
Rushed instructors often have a sense of urgency that can cloud judgment, skill, and can cause students to loose respect for the instructor and the institution. Instructor organization is the foundation of a good teaching session and a teaching organization. Without that foundation you may have missed points during lecture or soft spots with little useful time. When this occurs the students will start loosing respect for the instructor’s ability to do their job and the institutions ability to provide them with the education that they have paid for.
Being organized and prepared sends a message that you are serious and in control. It also helps the students to be in control for themselves because they can see how the class is going to progress. There are no mysteries or moments of indecision.
Hi James:
Our preparation is an expectation by our students, institutional superiors, and our profession we're preparing the students for.
Regards, Barry
Coming into class not only ensures that the students are getting the best possible learning experience, it enables you as an instructor to be more confident in approaching the subject matter, and provide more effective teaching.
Yes I agree, but right now that I have to help my night instructor plan for his class (He never has the time) It seems my drive is going down
Organization is a TOOL, STYLE and a action...
It will only help ...
It will never hurt
Hi Jean:
Lay a good foundation and students will build with practice, practice, and more practice.
Regards, Barry
Hi Roy:
Once a weakness is identified, some action to correct the deficiency seems in order. Great example of what can result without proper planning. I would say it is extremely rare someone can expect great outcomes just walking into class without prepartion. Maybe some can do it, but ultimately the measure of that lack of effort is not going to show in the instructor, but in the students performance.

Hi Roy:
I have found that students like deomonstrations but they do take time to set up or get ready. A poor demonstration due to poor planning or preparation just doesn't go over well with students.
Regards, Barry
Hi Roy:
Your preparation will always pay off. We all have the same amount of time. It's how we use it tha really matters.
Regards, Barry
Roy- I totally agree with you and the backup plan but, how do you work this in when you cannot get any extra food and sometimes you do not get the food you ordered. We dance a lot over here also.
Hi Roy:
Getting all your resources together, materials, lesson-appropriate talking points (lecture), and media help with the preparation. Getting to your class early, readying the classroom, having your stuff organized, and starting class exactly on time suggest to students you are ready and expect that they will be as well.
Regards, Barry
How can you ask students to come ready for class if you yourself is not ready the golden rule. Also my other rule don't ask someone you are not willing to do if you won't do yourself.
