The main terms used in my institution are either if you accredited.

accredited-recognize as meeting the essential requirements as academic excellence.

iT IS IMPORTANT TO BE INFORMED ABOUT THE PROPER DEFINITIONS TO GIVE THE STUDENT THE CORRECT INFORMATION WITH TERMS THAT ARE CONSISTENT FOR THE VIABILITY OF THE SCHOOL

We use accrediation alot. We just received our accrediation at our FL campus for DC program. But also we are working toward accrediation for another degree program which is the ND program. I find myself speaking about this topic much to explain the process for prospective student and how it will relate to them as a student.

We use terms like AOM which stands for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, ND for Naturopathic Medicine, and DC for Chiropractic Medicine.

accreditation, financial aide and enrollment agreement. We are currently not accreditted, still researching how to go about doing this. I know that a school just starting out does not receive immediate or maybe I am incorrect, but immediate accrediatation. Financial aide is therefore eliminated r/t initial process. As for enrollment agreement, i know to explain that it is a legally binding document. It can be filled out later but binding when all information has been entered.

Francisco,
You are ecxactly right! We must all be on the same page and the students will have a better understanding.

These are some of the terms and definitions we use:

Enrollment Agreement
Tuition
Program
Course
Start date

It's important that everybody at the insitution, from students to teachers to the administrative assistant are in the same page.

One of the most commonly used terms at our school would be tuition. While discussing tuition, we make sure we take the opportunity to also discuss any additional costs that might be associated with the program i.e. books, supplies, uniforms, national testing fees etc... we like to make sure all potential costs are discussed up front so that our potential students can budget not only for the program, but for any additional cost that may affect their decision to attend. Other terms that are commonly used are financial aid (funds that can be used to help the student pay for the class), payment terms (how payments are expected to be made) and accreditation (what is it and does it apply to us).

The institution is currently using the following definitions: enrollment, enrollment agreement, catalogs

So far we have been using enrollment and enrollment agreement in our institution.

Terms being used in our institution are enrollment, enrollment agreement, catalog, and advertising!

In our Admissions Office, we talk a good deal about *marketing* and *advertising* during the admissions process as this is the vessel through which we recruit prospective students. We work closely with our Marketing Department to determine what types of marketing materials should be created to fit our needs for the various ways we recruit (in person at fairs, through email, etc.). We use the traditional paper materials- viewbooks, brochures highlighting certain aspects of life at our institution or certain awards we have won. We also use other marketing materials, such as pens, keychains, and cups. The Marketing Department also seeks our input on advertising copy.

Definitions are a pertinent part of our job as well as any job. If you don't know what terms of the institution mean then how can you speak to the prospective student.

Jennifer,
Thank you for your post.

Debra,
It is very important that everyone fully understand the rules and regs so that the students are not mislead.

I did not realize that ALL people involved in meeting with new students had to participate in this training. I am not an admissions person but meet with admissions on a weekly basis to review new students for my program.

Common terms we use during the admission's process is "cumulative GPA" this term is used with applicants to explain to them that one of our admission's requirements is based on their cumulative GPA; a combination of all courses and grades received through out their undergrad curriculum. "Official" is also another key word used often; transcripts must be received directly from the institutions they attended in order for them to be considered "official". The same term is used for their character references as well!

Josiah,
Great news! Make the notebook your own and continue to add material that will help you do the best job.

Ray,
The regulations protect us all and it is the best reps that adhere to them.

I have placed all kinds of valuable information there. from Admissions related information to certification credentials. I found the resource notebook to be an extremely useful tool that helped me access information quickly and easily.
I learned a lot about the institution that I am working for and how it compared to other institutions where I was. I also found out that the rules and regulations for this business have been greatly increased and their implementation will result in an better industry for us all

Keeping an updated notebook is a great idea. I am new to the admissions job and the information I am finding in this course will be very beneficial to my future career. I look forward to adding new things into my notebook.
