The resource notebook is a good tool for admissions representatives.
Some of the terms commonly used at our institution are; Enrollment Agreement, Advertising, Accreditation, Enrollment and Fair Consumer Practices.
At our location we have trainings and power point presenations given to us by the chair of each program we offer. Many times I refer to the printouts and presentations when someone has a question about a program.
The term 'Program" is defined as a prescribed group of courses, taken in proper sequence to attain mastery of a body of knowledge or set of skolls and leading to a certificate or degree.
The term "Scholarship" is defined as a grant-in-aid to a student. The offer of a grant-in-aid to an enrolled student to offsetpartial or complete costs of a course, program or degree.
The difference between tuition and total cost of attendance and what exactly is "total cost of attendance".
Some of the terms and definitions commonly used during the admissions process at my institutions may be related to being accredited and tuition cost.
I have put the school catalog, all updates to programs, advertising pieces and definitions. I have also put in the proper ways of presenting the program "guidesheet" and terms and language to avoid with addressing the student.
The Resource Notebook is a great tool to access as a refresher. Although training has taken place when initially hired and throughout the course of the year, material is updated and, in order to maintain compliance, and to properly help the student, I need to know the contents and where to find certain documents.
Thank you Patty...and to answer another one of your questions, the best way for me to ensure the potential student understands the terminology used.. is for me to ask them "what does this mean to you?" This helps me to gage their understanding and to guide the student if they misunderstood or they are unsure how it applys to our campus and to them personnaly.
Conduct is simply a term that my company uses for when a perspective student comes in to meet with a representative to take a look at that program offerings & take a tour of the campus to determine if we are a good fit for them. My former company called it an "interview"
