Michael,

The questionnaire is a great tool to engage in the exploration of beginning school and a new career. You are right on point with the statement of finding a good fit for both.

Patty Aronoff

Patrick,
Leads are first introduction to the prospective students. By examining the leads and this connection, we start the relationship of client and school.

Athena,

Excellent post! You have outlined very important definitions and how they affect your school and your students. The enrollment agreement and the catalog constitute the contract between the student and the school.

Patty Aronoff

Joselyn,
Scholarships should always include the disclaimer "for those who qualify" and fully outline the requirements for consideration.

I have placed the required documents from my institution in my Resource notebook. I have also placed current emails which explain my institution's practices for ease of explnantion (layman's terms).

I keep my Resource notebook near me.
At any point I may need to refer to it so I keep it close by.

One thing I didn't know was that the terms counselor or advisor is not permitted.
I've added the Enrollment Agreement as well as the Commission for Independent Education
Rules and Regulations So that I can ensure I am following the correct guidelines.

Accreditation- National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts and Sciences (NACCAS)

Enrollment- Registering a student

Enrollment Agreement- A legally binding contract that is signed by applicants to licensed institutions as well as by auhorized personnel.

Studio tour: an event where several prospects are invited to the campus after work hours to learn about the program and see the facility.
Private Tour: a tour for an individual who is unavailable for a scheduled group studio tour
Service: someone who has requested information about our institution via mail, phone, or web inquiry.
Questionnaire: a list of questions given to prospective students at the start of a tour. The questions are designed to get a general feel of whether or not a prospective student is a good fit for our institution and vice versa.

Leads: Prodpective students

Contact: direct communication with a prospective student/lead or the representative reach a conclusion, such as: out of town, decease etc...

Conduct: The interview process for prospective students

Apply: Prospective student applies at the end of the interview

FA conduct: student attend financial aid meeting with Financial Aid Coordinator

In the institution I am based off, some of the terms and definitions commonly used during the admission process are:

Accrediting Agency or Accreditation which in the case of the Accrediting Agency/Agencies provide a volunteer membership for institutions that also allows and serves as “protectors” for federal funding program participation in the event they are approved and recognize by the US Department of Education. Make sense?

Enrollment Agreement is a legally binding contract that is signed by applicants to licensed institutions as well as by authorized personnel at the institution. At the same time, this enrollment agreement is a form of contract that provides disclosures which inform costumers (students) of important policies of the institution, which their signature indicates an acknowledgement of such.

The institution I am based of is also approved by the Florida Commission for Independent Education. Therefore this term is also commonly used.

Another term familiar with us is the Independent Postsecondary Education Institution. Which means that any institution that operates in this state’s OR makes an application to operate in this state and is not provided, operated, and supported by the State of Florida, it’s a political subdivision, or the Federal Government.

Marketing it can be define as a general term that can refer to an overall approach to promoting our school and its programs, pricing, services, ideas, and promoting goods.

Program can be defined as a prescribed group of courses, taken in the proper sequence to attain mastery of a body of knowledge or skill sets. This can lead to a certificate, diploma and/or degree.

Title IV (4), is the federal allocation of funds for postsecondary education, students that are eligible can utilize these funds to apply those to their education at a postsecondary education institute.

As a director would it not be helpful to create a standard resources-notebook and give access to all, rather than them creating their own?

Some of the definitions that are used daily are the following: Accreditation, Enrollment, Enrollment Agreement, Independent Postsecondary Educational Institution, Program and Scholarships.

Mel,
Full disclosure is part of the requirements of Florida education law. We must fully disclose all information in order for the student to have the opportunity to make their own decision.

Patty Aronoff

Emmanuel,
A consultant certainly can assist. However, your school has been assigned a program specialist that can provide full explanations and how it affects your particular school.

Patty Aronoff

Emmanuel,
The enrollment agreement is a very important document. Along with the catalog it constitutes the contract between the student and the school.

Patty Aronoff

Tiffany,

Keeping the material up-to-date is very important. Rule changes can occur anytime during the year. Currently, the Commission is reviewing rule changes regarding financials.

Patty Aronoff

Dana,

Thank you for your feedback! You have an excellent plan in place. Keep on learning.

Patty Aronoff

Patrick ,
Entrance requirements will vary from institution to institution. Most employers today require a high school diploma or GED. Be careful of bogus diplomas!

Patty Aronoff

Matiely,

The information sheets should be comprehensive enough to fully explain the program in detail. It should have objectives and outcomes.
