We offer technical programs that can have/lead to certifications. I find it a great help to locate the head instructor on each course to get more information. They usually provide me the websites for the Certification body and that leads me to a lot of extra tools I can provide our students related to job roles.
I work at a health sciences graduate school that specializes if first and post professional degrees in Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy. I view our faculty as a strong resource for learning about the jobs available in the therapy industries because most of them have worked, or still work, in their professional fields. The National Associations for PT and OT are also good recources for both student services staff as well as a place to refer prospective and current students.
Our school is a graduate school and we offer a doctorate in physical therapy and a masters in occupational therapy. To learn about these different programs we have marketing materials that explain them in detail, our website, instructors, and an on campus clinic.
We offer several different graduate programs. Talking to current students, faculty, alumni and administrators are the best source of information and for any changes that are on the horizon.
Our institution is strictly an online business college offering Accounting, Finance, International Business, Management Information Systems (MIS), Marketing, Management with concentrations in Healthcare, Human Resources, General and Entrepreneurial.
Our institution has developed a unique Business Partner Program that gives us an opportunity to visit companies and get a first-hand experience at actual jobsites. This program also provides internships and possible placement for graduates.
Lazaro,
Sounds like a great partnership!
Lucy,
The feedback from the externship sites is very important and well as information from the program advisory committee.
Tiffany,
Other schools do call them concentrations or minors.
Within our actual degree program, students have the opportunity to concentrate in certain areas- we call these concentrations "programs." These programs include a focus on (1) families, (2) businesses, (3) the international arena, (4) sports, (5) research and writing. I've learned about these programs by speaking to the faculty and staff that work in each and to students who participate in the programs.
Our center provides education in health care. graduates are invited to share their experience in finding employement. Sitting in, on orientation day familiarizes us with the courses; instructors and students get to see us one more time. Once finished with externship, it is a good idea to have an evaluation given by the mentor on student preformance. This will help fine tune the programs.
We are currently offering Massage therapy classes, in the future will like to include more healthcare base programs.
We have a joint program with a Massage therapy clinic, and they are helping us in the process of learning about the job area.
We are currently offering massage therapy courses. We are learning about the job area by being involved in Rehabilitation clinics and private spas.
Since our organization offers a very broad degree program, we have prospective students investigate our program who come from very diverse backgrounds and personal goals.
It becomes critical to know about many different jobs and opportunities our program may support and consequently, the knowledge all our our staff requires is immense.
Keeping up regularly with changes in industry and where job opportunities are shifting, becomes an important way to address the needs of our students.
Debra,
Your school has given you a great opportunity to sit in on those meetings and learn more about the programs.
We offer a variety of programs at my school. although most are medically oriented, we also have cosmetology and cooking. All of the program directors meet daily and discuss their programs and there is also meetings with admissions department associates where the courses, training, and requirements for each program are discussed.

Your school offers quite a variety. Very exciting!
