I have worked in this sector for almost ten years and the one constant is change. It is very important to keep up to date on changing policies in order to provide the best service to all prospects and internal customers.
Prior to starting the course, I knew that it was an agent's responsibility to assist students with enrolling in school and helping them determine the best program for their needs. Upon taking this course and learning more about the industry, I am now more cognizant of how important it is to be upfront and honest with students regarding their expectations upon completion of their programs. Though it would be easier to get students to enroll in school if you could promise them a job making X amount of money per year, it is completely unethical and can have a number of negative effects on not only the student but also the institution. I feel that in this role it is important to work with the student rather than for the student. It is important for the student to direct their field of study, but it is important for me to assist them in choosing a program that can help their education turn into a career. Overall, I think that as an admissions representative I need to be over mindful of the things I say to students, to ensure there is no miscommunication and each party is fully aware of what to expect from the relationship.
Becoming an admissions representative was a complete career change for me, so I'm very grateful for the knowledge included in this training. I didn't realize how focused this field was on ethical decision making and the modules were very informative.
It's a great refresher no matter how many years in the industry. I'm already looking forward to the CM305: Ohio Postsecondary Education’s Regulatory Environment that I plan on taking in a couple months.
When I started the course, I was a little nervous about the agent's requirements. Now, as I'm nearing the completion of the course, I am excited to start working as an admissions rep. I will represent my school truthfully and do my best to ensure the success of as many students as possible.
the resource notebooks keeps me up to date and is to review. When I update one section I find myself going back through and reviewing the other material that I have. It really helps.
I really like how it is importnt to go above and beyond as an agent instead of just trying to "sell" potential students. I like the idea about keeping a notebook to refference and taking the inititaive to meet the faculty and staff to know exactly what everyone does and how the organization works as a unit to bennefit students. Being in the know in that way makes the job feel more rewarding because you know how your school can bennefit a student or graduate and your not just trying to "sell" just to make numbers.
It is imperative that agents maintain up to date training and product knowledge as well as updated policies/procedures, and regulatory practices to ensure career success as well as student success.
I think things are making more sense to me now that I am gaining detailed knowledge on the Agent's requirements. This course has thoroughly broken down this position and it's duties. I am excited to apply these techniques to the position.
Success as an Agent is a moving target right now. The rapidly changing regulatory landscape requires that agents be alert, adaptible and focused, while adhering to the very highest ethical standards.
It made me realize how much responsibility I have to the college, the students and the board.
WOW! That's all I can say. There was a lot more information to retain than I had initally expected. But it is all of vital importance in order to comply with state law and regulations. So it was very useful information to have handy especially in this nifty, not-so-little notebook.
Although I have been an employee at my current company for quite some time, and I felt that I understood everything about the admissions process,I found that I didn't really know the essentials of enrollment.
Your course was clear, concise, and I found everything I needed quickly.
Thank you!
I feel as though all of the requirements set forth are fitting in every aspect of being an admissions representative. The focus on knowing more than just techniques in sales and pitches makes perfect sense. If you lack knowledge on the programs that you are presenting to individuals, there is no way that you are doing a justice to your employer, or the prospective student.
Agent requirements arent to bad and it gives me an overview of what my day will look like usually and what taskd need to be completed
I have worked in my school's admissions department for 3 years, in the role of an admissions coordinator. I know all about the mechanics of enrollment paperwork and staff support. I had no idea of the detailed regulations that govern the admissions rep position. I am definitely pleased to know there are resources out there available at our finger tips to keep us in check, should any questions arise.
Not only am I more secure with the requirements, I feel as if this course has been a great benefit to my growth as a representative in general. Being able to see other representative's opinions and thoughts has helped me to really develop my own. I am very new to this position and I have learned alot. There is so much more to it than I originally thought and I think that this training was very benefitial.
I think that it is so important to get this refresher training once per year do to all the possible changes. It is vital that Admission agents keep track with all changes, but by making it mandatory to do training every year; it really helps us to keep with the pace of change.
It has been many years since I have had to go through a certification training like this for admissions agents. I found it to be thorough and enlightening and not at all what I expected. Thanks for the forethought and effort that went into this review.
The requirements really make sense. There are a lot of common sense things (e.g. don't lie about your school) in there but it's important that they be written down and acted upon.
