I've only used closed questions to gauge their understanding. Now I will use translation and interpretation questions after covering the topic to reinforce comprehension.

I start out with closed questions. Such as asking the class if they like cookies? Then I ask them questions such as soft, chewy or crisp? This is when I ask "How do you get these different types of texture? I then discuss how to create differnt textures using the same recipe.
