I know...I am researching new ways to organize, plan, and improve in this area...Challenging but exciting!
Hi Mitessa,
You must have a plan! A plan makes for a more effective instructor, thus producing a quality student.
Patricia Scales
When you create a road map, you are able to break down sections for learning and structure for easy class retention of the material.
Hi Laura,
I concur! The instructor must create an environment that is conducive for learning to take place.

Class management is necessary so the class lecture can flow in a fruitful direction. By engaging the class and each student following the agenda for the day, everyone benefits and gains knowledge.
Class management will set the environment. Environment is extremely important in relation to communication. If communication breaks down or is placed on lock down by the instructor or student, then learning is in jeopardy. Class management sets the environment and communication techniques up in order to promote individual and group absorption of applicable knowledge.
Concentrating on menial tasks and taking advantage of being an authority in the room takes away from the very reason for your position. Creating a classroom management strategy that engages, respects, and requires applicable success from adult learners, increases success of the students and the instructor.
Hi Gerardo,
Without structure, there is certainly total chaos. The instructor has to control the classroom and produce an enivronment that is conducive for learning to take place.

Students need structured classroom. The intructor should motivate and be positive to all students, and to stay truthful to gain the full respect from the students
Classroom management is essential because no one will learn when the focus is on behavior rather than the subject matter.
The students need a set routine that they can count on. Structuring and organizing the class sets this routine. Adult learners have busy lives. They expect class to start and end on time. Giving students their assignments ahead of time with clear deadlines allows students to manage their lives while still prioritizing school and meeting expectations to succeed in their chosen program.
Hi Elizabeth,
That's right! Rules, policies, and procedures are put in place to be adibed by (students) and eforced (instructors). When a rule, policy, or procedure is broken the student should be reprimanded accordingly.
Patricia
We have rules, policies, and procedures for a reason. We must follow them in the classroom. Elizabeth
Class management is necessary for student success because if the instructor is not in control of the classroom, learning will be at a minimum. Students like structure, and structure requires management. All groups, committees, and even families need management. Someone always needs to be in charge if the environment intends to be productive. There will be more productivity coming out of a well managed classroom.
Hi Tricia,
Students like it when you have a plan so that things flow smoothly. A chaotic classroom is never a good thing; students will begin to complain when chaos is involved.
Patricia
Hi Tricia,
Students appreciate, need and want structure. It is part of our job to produce an environment that is conducive for learning.
Patricia
I agree, students need and actually love to have structure in a classroom. I try to be a positive motivator for all my students, stay truthful and as they put it "I keep it real" with the...I gain so much respect from all by sticking to a plan and working the plan.
Hi Susana,
You have a great outlook when it comes to class management. I can tell you go into your classes thoroughly prepared and ready to give your students everything you have.
Patricia
Hi Kris,
I agree! Preparation and oganization are crucial.
Patricia
Class management is critical to planning because without preparation and organization the learning experience for the student will be difficult and confusing.
It's important to be able to convey information n a timely fashion----with Clarity. The course content can only be delivered if the teacher is organized, prepared, knowledgable, and able to keep the class engaged and motivated---sees the course as relevent to their intended goals...usually keeps them on track. It's important not to spend time on personal effects, and keep the learning process front and center, and that the student feels that their career goals are the teacher's interest. It's important to know each student's name; as this is a strong indicator to th student, that you are aware and they have your attention. Appearing professional and prepared will gain their respect; therefore keep their attention.
