copy of catalog and blank enrollment agreement.
I was unfamiliar with the term - Agent - and what the terms means.
I make sure to have the most up to date career wheels. I discovered that any licensed institution offering a program which does not qualify the graduate to take a required professional examinations in that field or to practice regulated professions in that field in Florida must publish a disclosure statement to inform prospective students clearly and unambiguously of this fact.
I have found that the Resource Notebook is a point of reference for me during my enrollment process with a potential student. In this notebook are all the programs that are offered at my local school. It has both the student catalog along with information that I could share with the student during the admissions conduct.I didnt know the actual career fields of each program until I looked at the sell sheets which offerthe name, core course and potential career choice for that program.
I have placed different Terms and Definitions as per the Florida Commision for Independet Education rules.
U learned that some schools hire agents to work outside the school.
Also read some of the Florida rules to be followed. For example according to one of the rules there is the possibility of reducing tuition or fees and there is a specific criteria for that to be followed.
ACICS - Accrediting Council of Independent Collges and Schools
Florida CIE - Commission for Independent Education
I would have to say, upon reflection, that the terms I most commonly use during the admissions process are: Accreditation, Enrollment, Enrollment Agreement, Program, Scholarship, and Title IV.
Here are sonme of the common terms/definitions used at my institution:
Scholarship-A grant in aid to a student.
Enrollment Agreement-A legal, binding contract signed by applicants as well as authorized intitution personnel.
Title IV- Federal Allocation of funding for post secondary education. Eligible students can use funding at institutions which participate in such funding programs.
I have included printed pieces from the session, as well as notes I took myself, that reflect our personal admissions/marketing practices in conjunction with what we have review so far. This will be very helpful when I quickly need to access info.
The resource notebook is a great tool. It is a quick reference guide.
We use a variation of the term accreditation -- accredited -- quite frequently. It is very important to make the prospective student aware that we have not only a state, but a national, agency which helps us be compliant with rules and regulations that govern our institution.
Enrollment agreement is another oft-used word. It is important to make the students aware that the Enrollment Agreement is a legally-binding contract between the student/parents/guardian and the institution. Hand-in-hand with Enrollment Agreement, we also use the term "Contract Period", which is the time-frame given the student on the enrollment agreement to complete their chosen program (a group of courses taken together to obtain a degree of mastery in a certain skill set).
Once we have said the entire name, Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools we usually say ACICS. We also use FAC for Financial Aid Coordinator.
I am printing all information out, including the quizzes for the resource notebook.
Credit hour: A credit hour is an artificial mesurement of the amount of learning that can occur in a program course based on a specificied amount of time spent on class activities and student preparation each week during the program course. The learning that actually occurs may vary depending on the instructor's delivery method and style.
Enrollment:means registering a student to take programs or courses at an institution, when such registration obligates the student to pay tuition to the institution and obligates the institution to provide instruction to the student.
FA for Financial Aid
FAC for Financial Aid Coordinator
LRC for Learning Resource Center
ACICS for Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools
It makes it a lot easier for me when I actually print the materials that I most frequently refer to including marketing materials and placement statistics. That makes one central location to refer to when needed.
Well we specifically refer to the ACICS (Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools)when we talk about our specific accreditation.
I found that you have to be expert when you speak with prospective students
My institution actually presents you with a resource notebook as part of your new representative training. All new admissions staff are required to locate and retain a copy of the campus marketing materials, familiarize ourselves with the location of catalogs, policies, procedures - even programs and their respective chairpersons.
I have retained mine and will now be including materials from my FAPSC course!
Some of the terms and definitions commonly used at my institution are Accrediting agency,Enrollment agreement, Independent Postsecondary Educational Institution, and marketing.
Accrediting agency - provide volunteer membership for institutions and act as gatekeepers for federal funding program participation. They are classified national, regional or programmatic.
Enrollment agreement - a legally binding contractsigned by applicants to licensed institution as well as authorized personnel at the institution. It is an agreement to terms of enrollment and provides disclosures which inform consumers of important policies of the institution, which their signature indicates acknowledge of.
Independent Postsecondary Educational Institution-Any postsecondary educational institution that operates in this state or makes application to the state and is not provided, operated and supported by the State of Florida, its political subdivisions or the Federal Government.
What are political subdivisions?
