Erica,
Your resource notebook will be very helpful to you as you continue to learn aspects of your position.
Patty Aronoff
Erica,
You are absolutely correct. There is a statute or rule governing every aspect of school operation.

Well its only my first day but I feel that I have already leaned about the accreditation, pograms offered, pogram costs, Admissions and FA process. I have already been introducd to all o the program directors and have meetings set up for poduct knowledge.
Being a small institution I realize I have several different positions I will be filling. I see there are guides to each position. I will organize my resource notebook, as well as an admissions checklist to prepare student files and assure all information has been given to prospective students accurately and according to state rules and statues and the institutions policies.
I have discovered that for every policy there is a rule or statue to be followed. Being I am a small institution, I am learning everything I need to know.
I know the catalog (along with the enrollment agreement) is the main resource and in details contains all information, rules and statues to be followed. As well as general and most important factors of the institution including costs and program outlines. This must be given at least a week prior to enrollment.
I realized I need to prepare a guide for an Exit Interview. This can provide beneficial information in providing better student services.
Guy,
It's like riding a bike. Once you get back on it all comes back to you. You're just traveling on a different road.

Kasandra,
This is an important contribution to people in information technology. They must be up-to-date in their field as well.
Patty Aronoff
urania,
Get to know your faculty and try sitting in on some of their classes. It's amazing what you will learn.
Patty Aronoff
Suzanne,
You have a great asset in knowing the institution from its beginnings. Holding institutional knowledge is wonderful!
Patty Aronoff
David,
It would be another job in itself! Congrats to you for keeping up on all that information.
Patty Aronoff
Timothy,
Excellent! Keep on learning! We should be on the quest to learn more every day.
Patty Aronoff
bruce,
Specific programs requires specific training. It is difficult to find people who have the thorough knowledge as instructors on specific programs unless they have worked in the industry. People can always learn more.
Patty Aronoff
Alexander ,
Product knowledge is an important aspect of our jobs in admissions. In order to be an effective admissions representative, we must know the products that we discuss with prospective students.

I was a previous admission rep at this school, but I am amazed how different things are. A change of location since I worked here last is a little disorienting. I am getting to it all over again. It is quickly coming back to over the past week.
Our institution provides continuing education for adults looking to achieve IT industry standard certifications.
My knowledge at the institution that i work at would be very well when it somes to admissions part of it. I know that contract and rules and regulations well. However, when it comes to other departments i need to follow up on that more
I have been with my institution since its opening. I am fortunate to know the programs and school offerings in and out. It allows me to train new employees and help others get up to speed.
Our institution is an online, educational institution, offering academic programs in the medical field. Students are required to do series of clinical rotations with affiliate Doctor's, hospitals, clinics, ect....our students attend our programs from a distance from different states. Over the years, we have come to learn that not only does every single state have its own laws and regulations, but our affiliates within each state do as well. There has always been a high demand in my position to keep up to date at all times on all of the policies, regulations, and procedures from not only the State of FL, but abroad as well. Our student services and placement department has a vast outreach across the United States and within each state, there are governed policies for each. My job is to consistently keep up to date on all aspects of our offerings to students and that is a full-time job in itself. ;)
I have a very broad knowledge of my institution. As a graduate, I am very familiar with professors, and student life. I know about most of the majors and their requirements, but I am still learning about some of the new ones.
I am discovering the details. I am educating myself on the Fair Consumer laws. I am learning how to make our office more efficient. I am learning the FAQ's of our prospective students.
I have already begun to arrange meetings with department heads so I can get a complete understanding of each major.
I work in an institution that has very specific programs. However they are all under one 'umbrella' in the workplace. I think it's very important that any institution hires people with backgrounds in what they offer to be admin reps. I am the only one in our office who has experience in our specific program industry. I used to over hear other reps who didn't have any experience talking about the industry and it was so evident that they had no idea what the heck they were saying! oh, btw... they are not there anymore.
