I just began as an AR and I feel secure on most regulations. A good rule I follow as I learn of course is if you're not sure, don't say it and find out for sure. Also, if it feels wrong, it probably is and don't do it. I am learning specific requirements to each program. I am also learning what advertising is and is not allowed. That's very important to me to know how I can get the word out and still be compliant. I'm also getting to see behind the scenes what it takes to even develop an admissions process for a health program.

Tamecia,
Congratulations! You have a wealth of knowledge and continue to pursue education.

Patty Aronoff

DEBORAH,

It does take time and this is where institutional knowledge is a true asset.

Patty Aronoff

Vivian,

We are answering the question of the student "what's in it for me?" Knowing the requirements, the financial responsibility, and possible outcomes can drive that answer. If the student does not see the benefit, then the end result is futile.

I am very familiarized with all departments within the institution. I have been in higher education for over 10 years and I have worked in the capacity of an instructor residential and online, Program chair/director, Director of Education, externship representative, financial aid representative. Regional Director of Operations and school consultant. I am in the last year of pursuing my Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership D.Ed, I have always been passionate about education and I continue to be a lifelong learner and a transformational leader of career education of the 21st century.

On a scale from 1 to 10, I would rate my knowledge at a 7. When you first start, even though you go through the catalogs and printed information you do not have a complete sense of the careers. As time passes, you become an expert, since you are able to interact with other graduate students, staff members and professors. I can say that I have discovered the importance of getting to know your staff, professors and the community that your institution is located at.

After having the opportunity to go through the modules, I have thought about what aspects am I aware of in terms of the academic and vocational offerings my institution has. One of the things that I believe that I need to work on is the financial aid available. This is a key aspect to motivate students to continue and further their education. Another aspect I saw on the modules, that I feel it’s really important is the job availability. Been able as an institution to provide the student with the support for him or her to find a job after graduation, contributes to the success of the individual. Knowing what’s out there and experiencing directly the success of other graduates can only facilitate our job as admission representatives

amber,
Sounds like you have a great group of people ready to support your students.

Patty Aronoff

Julio,

Excellent! I would assume that many rely on your expertise.

Patty Aronoff

Mauricio ,

That is awesome! You are showing you have a knowledge of your campus and the people there.

Patty Aronoff

My knowledge about the institution is growing everyday. I am new to the campus and career so I am constantly learning new aspects of the program and the company. We are dually accreditted by asset and compta. We are also an accelerated program that is career based. We have an established in house clinic that supply clients to our students to get their 119 clinical hours. We have 6 cross trained instructors that offer free additional help to students. Our career services team helps make sure that students are able to seize every opportunity that comes their way.

Since I am the chief operations officer I am functionally knowledgeable about every dept withing the institution.

I am pretty well updated on all procedures, rules and regulations, changes made on campus. I know the names of all instructors, thelength of each program and can pretty much recite the course catalog verbatum when conducting the tours.

Maureen,
You have a wealth of institutional knowledge and can bring so much to your current position. Be sure to share your experiences!

Patty Aronoff

catherine,
Sitting in on classes brings you closer to the student experience. You will learn something new and be able to share this experience with your prospective enrollments.

Patty Aronoff

Jose,
This is a best practice of successful admissions reps. The more you know, the more you are able to provide great information on the student experience. It is all part of a strong product knowledge.

Patty Aronoff

Daniel,
Financial aid is very complicated and individualized. I am glad we have experts in that field.

Patty Aronoff

Javier,

Keep on learning and teaching others. You have a valued knowledge through the other positions you have held.

Patty Aronoff

Phillip,
A school creates its own culture through the staff and students. Starting with compliance and management, the direction of success is set in forward motion.

Patty Aronoff

The knowledge I have about my institution is broad based and also in considerable detail. I worked at my current institution for 12 years. Some individuals have held the same position during their employment. I have held about 8 different positions during these continuous 12 years. Each position brought new knowledge which is built upon previous areas. The technology and software also changes over time which adds a great deal of flexibility. There is significant amout of cross training in learning a new position every couple years.
