We have prospects calling everyday asking about accredation. It's a big deal and the employers are letting people know.

There is a challenge with our school currently as we are new and in the process of formulating information for the accreditation of our programs. The future benefits for the school may entail additional training material for staff to ensure a robust curriculum, and a better attraction/retention rate as students may see a better quality program and success.

I agree accreditation is vital in the academic industry. The opportunities that students are afforded in seeking employment often are attributed to the value of the accreditation of the school

The main advantage of a school being accredited is that some employers require that graduates attend a program that is accredited. Accredition is a standard of excellence that a school follows to ensure the proper education to be successful in a particular field

I agree whole heartedly. There is also the misconception that one accreditation is better than the other. In addition, there a number of schools that will only accept Regionally accredited credits for transfer. I feel that since the Department of Education states that there are no difference between the quality of education between Nationally and Regionally Accredited schools, there should be something done to have all credits from any accredited school eligible for credit transfer.

Positive effects on school reputation, the possibility of transferrability of credits (upon approval from receiving institution), another form of accountability in high standards and quality in our school and its programs.

I'm pleased to tell students and parents of our accreditation. It shows the standards are up to par and it puts them at ease. Of course, most assume that means credits will automatically transfer to other colleges when that isn't the case. It's a very small hill to climb when explaining why. 99% understand the reasoning when we're finished explaining it to them.

Recognition of quality or value by employers of our students. Students who received tuition assistance from their employers because to this. A sense of pride that "all" of our program are accredited by staff, and students alike.

Being an accrediting body definitely adds value for the student. Students prefer to attend a school that is meeting accreditation criteria. They get the benefits of financial aid and it helps when looking to transfer credits to another institution. I agree with Brenda, it is usually the number one most important thing prospects ask about.

We have had several schools in our area lose their accreditation because of the training and education they were giving. I believe that the electronic/media age, has made a big difference to the student/consumer. It has made them more aware of the importance of going to a school that is held accountable in every way. Also you always want to ask yourself, "would I refer this school or person (myself)"

Being accredited allows us the ability to speak with authority on the benefits of the program and integrity of the school.

It assists the students with decisions beyond their undergraduate degree. It also eliminates questions about qualifications and recognition.

Being an accredited institution gives students and employers confidence in our standards, programs, and graduates.

I agree with what you are saying. I have had students that have transferred to our school from a non-accredited school. I found that the students are sometimes permitted to attend these schools without having a HS diploma or GED. They were promised that they would be awarded one upon graduation. Many job options will be lost, if the job seeker does not have a diploma or GED regardless of their training.
I have found that students are also coming in with more questions than in the past. It really seems as if people are becoming more aware of what type of questions they should ask when looking at schools. Ususally the first question a student will ask is "Are you accredited?" It is a great feeling to be able to tell a student "Yes we are fully accredited."
