Teaching all learning styles or not?

I think it's good to expose each student to all types of learning styles in order for everyone to understand the course material. The other option for smaller intimate class size is to present the material to each student in their own learning style. This obviously will not work with larger classes, but it may nuture those students in the small classes to achieve their goals better in the real world.

Does anyone have pointers on teaching for the first time?

Active Learning

I am always looking for new methods to enhance active learning in the classroom. For those that have used groups discussions, which is more effective, working in pairs or 3s.

Open ended questions

Clear goals and objectives guide a course from start to finish for students to participate in the fullness of the course experience.

Truly understanding your student population is the key for successful student motivation. Having a sense of their learning styles and issues that may plague them from doing their best is what we as professionals must be tuned in on.
