Personal Vs. Managerial goals

Every manager wants to be more effective. I think for managers to be more effective they need to identify and develop their personal and managerial goals. What are your thoughts?

Goal Setting

Goal setting is something I do both personally and professionally. Goal setting is essential to be your success as an individual and as a professional.

The toxic co worker

As easy as it may seem to avoid that one toxic co worker. I believe in approaching said individual when it compromises the care that is given to a patient. Sadly, because she does not have her license yet, the constructive feedback is taken harshly. I take great measure to thoroughly think about what I am going to say and how I am going to approach the situation, but I do not see any positive changes in her care to patients. I have heard attending and others make negative and toxic comments about her but the issue continues to cycle. What suggestions can be given to avoid throwing off the fun dynamic of the workplace without compromising the care of the patients.

Having the dreaded "scheduled life"

One of my biggest resistances is 'being scheduled'. Now, of course, I'm a grown up and have a functional work life, but I still have a resistance to scheduling everything like I might shrivel up or something. However, I know more now why scheduling (with suffient free time) will actually help me be even more efficient and possibly get more done with less effort by staying on track. I appreciated this course for sure!

goal improvement

Should b exact & geared to the job site, not general & for personal inprovement only

Goal Setting

In order to reach any goal, set a goal that is attainable. This will result in a much more positive ending.

STRESS

sTRESS IS NOT ALWAYS BAD AND CAN BE USEFULL

Stress

These are some great stress relieving steps that I am going to start implementing into my work and home life to help make my work and home life flow.

Stress and Time Management

We all have stress that affects us in both positive and negative ways. My sources of stress many times stem from poor time management. When I write everything down, set deadlines, and stick to those deadlines, things go very smoothly and I get tons done. But when I do not, I get very much off track and find myself having to hustle to get caught up, which only adds MORE stress to the situation. What are some good time management techniques that you use? God Bless!

Phone Time Management

How do you deal with callers who do not like the fact that you need them to leave a voicemail explaining what the call is about so that you can call them back when you are prepared and available?

"The Evil Internet"

Many of us use the internet in our day to day tasks, but what do you think might help us as employees and possibly any of our staff from being tempted to explore sites that are not relevant to our goals?

the right balance

We just learned that we are closing this year. Luckily, we have time to plan our career moves before layoffs formally begin, but -- as a manager -- I'm trying to figure out how to encourage my teachers to take charge of their careers while, at the same time, remain focused on doing the job that they are currently in.

Positive Stress

I often find myself waiting for the last minute to accomplish things. This gives me a boost to actually get the work done. This procrastination has also caused me to fail two online courses I've been taking. Not fun at all. But have a learned from my mistake? I don't think so because this has happened twice already.

Goal Setting

Goal setting is an essetial part of success not only in the workplace, but also in your personal life.

New Topic

We must know how to do the correct amount of work for the time we are given. Once we figure out that part then we can understand how to manage the time better.

Confidence and stress

This has been a really great training module so far. The stress factor at my work place I would have to characterize as extremely high and has been that way for almost 3 years straight. I think the aspect of myself that is assaulted the most to this day in this environment is my self-confidence. The techniques of breathing and exercise presented in this module I think are tangible tools to help combat the stress that directly contributes to my self-doubt. I'll be using those in full-force in the coming year as I expect the stress level to just get worse instead of better. If I lose confidence in myself then everything else around me can fall apart quickly. I think this module has given me some tools to think about and use.

Teamwork

We love to all get along and be professional and repectful of each other. The team needs all its members and I find work a pleasure in such an envirment. Challenges/changes are good and normal for any workplace.

Balancing Stress

There are times when I feel overwhelmed by the last minute tasks assigned on a weekly basis. I don't understand why people procrastinate and then expect everyone else to jump through hoops. I can sometimes understand an occasional change coming down that needs to take place immediately, but not on a regular basis. That stresses me out the most. If I procrastinate about something I have to do then I must suffer the consequences, but if someone else procrastinate and get the information down to me at the last minute and expect great and wonderful things to happen I get very upset. If at all possible in the workplace I believe supervisors can and should not wait until the last minute to pass along information to the faculty and staff with immediate deadlines.

Time Management

I believe that time managment is important in the work place. Developing your own 30, 60, 90 day time management plan is important
