Some managers believe that it is effective to have employees working on "crisis mode" so things get done Immediately. What is your view?

Belly breathing

Learning how to breath properly with your diaphragm is huge in helping your body deal with stress.

Goal setting

I found this workshop very useful in breaking down the various types of goals, how to prioritize them, and how to work with your team members to achieve these goals in a positive way. I particularly liked the section on having your team create their own goals, giving them more attachment to the outcome and empowerment to create their own standards! As someone who is new to a leadership role, I have been struggling with using the data we have and implementing goal setting, so this workshop was just what I needed!

Stress management Issues

This topic is excellent for all emeployees of the school and all jobs even. Excellent materials. How to reduce the stress level? No one is free from stress in this economic environemts. Can some one suggest how to reduce stress and anxiety at this time? Shafi

Involve the entire team

All of the information in this course is useful, but it is important that your entire team be on board with all of the concepts. Each individual on the team needs to understand and use the tools provided. It's the weak link thing. One team member that isn't on board can/will slow the entire project. Everyone needs to be pulling the same direction. I will start by asking each team member to complete this course and to utilize the tools available at the end.

How do you relax at work

I try to just do the best job I can, no matter how hard the task

When showing the employee whose boss...

As a manager/supervisor/boss, Is refusing to sign an employee's time sheet unacceptable if the employee is efficient & punctual? What are good examples of properly "showing the employee whose boss"?

Time Management

I have found that I waste a lot of time in my personal life as well as my career. I have learned so many new concepts to help me to improve in these areas.

Stress Mangement

This module is very informative because it is very helpful in any situation that you are in. Find an activitiy that best works for you to reduce your stress. The moudle mentions Increased vulnerability + Decreased power = increased worry. you should also look for a balance between work and home that best works for you.

Stress

We can all agree that we all have stressors in our daily lives. Both in our personal lives and in our business/work lives. It's important to know how to deal with the stress. Like "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff". Some stress is good, like the stress that makes us want to be more competitive or more productive. Makes us rise to the challenge. Then there is the negative stress that can make us unhealthy. The chronic stress. Daily exercise, visualization techniques... work for me. I also enjoy listening to music. Depending on what I'm feeling at the time determines what kind of music I listen to. You need to find what works for you and then use that technique to deal with your stress. Maybe for some, it can be a bubblebath or a long walk.... Learn for yourself what works and use it.

Professionalism

This is the example we need to set for our student everyday.

Letting Go of Resistance to Change = Stress Reduction for Me

I have learned that the greatest source of stress seems to be when I had been resistant to change. Particularly when implementing new policies, new methods of documentation, new student/class assignments... if I took the deep breaths and observed the root of most of the stress... in tended to be a resistance in going with the flow.

Prioritize

There are always going to be things in your life that you can and cannot control. Prioritizing them can help you feel a little less stress, by attacking those you can control first. Taking part in outside activities, or hobbies can help to reduce the amount of stress, as well. There needs to be a balance in everyday life so that you don't become overwhelmed with stressful tasks.

Work Together

Always be willing and able to work alongside your boss and your fellow employees. You need to have a professional relationship and be able to handle difficult situations as a team. It is important to know how your fellow employees and your boss think, work, react, etc, so that you are able to help them with tasks, situations, etc.

Set an example

Managers should always set the example for their employees! The way they operate in a work setting is observed an often times repeated by their employees, whether positive or negative behavior. Be a leader by setting a good example to your employees in everything you do!!

Goals

I enjoy the course, encourages me to review my own goals. As an instructor, is important to help your students learn/grow and better them self, goal making is an important part of this. Now is up to me to implement what I just learned (I realize I need lots of imprmovement in my goal settings) Thank you

time management

time can sometimes get away from you .so before taking on any project you need to get all that applies to the project in odered so you don't have to leave it.

Time Management

As a manager I find myself more than often strugling with this issue, time management. One point presented during the course is the fact that regerdless of your level of education one may still not been a great manager of time. In retrospective if you take a look at our educational system we are not taugh how to properly managed our work schedule or personal life. Too often senior managers assumed that education is equal to the ability of managing time and when the subordinate fails to meet deadlines rather than received guidance they are reprimand creating an unpleasant environment for both the senior manager and the subordinate manager. I will conclude by suggesting that corporations need to help employees by investing some typa of resources in providing time-management training. It could be a very wisely decision.

Walk the Walk, and Talk the Talk

I love the message in this tutorial about modeling the behavior that you want to see in others. We have a professionalism initiative currently in place at my school. One of the most difficult challenges is trying to get all faculty to model the apporpriate behavior--getting to the class 15 minutes early and being the last to leave, getting assignments grade in a timely manner etc. This is a great reminder to all that you are being watched wether you know it or not. Always hold yourself to the highest expectations, and others will follow.

Returning E-mails

I was tought by a fantastic mentor that all tasks should have a specified time. That plan has served me every since.
