Physical Facility Description

Why is a description of the physical facilities of the institution REQUIRED to be included in the catalog?

Advertising & Promotional Literature

Is there a guideline or a tool the Fair Consumer Practice use to determine what is misleading advertisement? What outline do they use to determine what is misleading advertisement?

New faces

Sit around a table and we see faces from many different lands. When asked what brought them or their family to the US the answer is to have a better life. This is no different then my family from long ago. It all fits in what I try to help with now in my career. Interesting.

Education

Admissions gives one the chance to show a path for people to succeed in life. Having been the first to graduate from college in my family has taught me the value of education. Value that I can convey to those who visit with me.

Work ethic

The Admissions Representative must enter the college setting with a foundation of having worked hard along with a strong belief to do it "the right way." A true concern to come to work to do just that, work and give the employer your best effort will result in positives for all concerned. The bottom line is always the student.

Student Wellfare

Interest in a students life becomes utmost important in the Admissions actions from start to finish. One must realize that the prospective student places their decisions on what is said by the employees of an institution. Changing lives for the better must be what we as Admissions Representatives strive for each and every day.

Compliance

It is critical for all staff to remain compliant with school procedures, and not skipping any steps in the enrollment process. This will help save the students and staff members time while ensuring all processes run smoothly. Therefore, this compliance training is definitely an important factor in understanding the dos and donts thoroughly.

Student Services

Recognizing and understanding student services is a critical aspect of the an admissions rep. This is important because we do not want the students to feel helpless or lost for resources once they are accepted into the school. Libraries, placement, and even counseling are all beneficial aspects of a students success in achieving their academic goals.

Graduation

In this section I learned about how different schools or institution celebrate their students completion of their courses. Some schools have something simple and cake and balloons, others schools have a full graduation celemony. It important for me as a admission representative to know about my schools graduation policy.

Admission process

The admissions process is a key part in the potential students overall success and career goals. The admissions representatives here needs to be well detail-oriented and carefully/correctly aid the prospect with the entire admissions. Also, the appropriate references such as, financial aid, need to be done to ensure the student is receiving all the correct info.

Importance of Paperwork

In this section, I learn about why all the paperwork given to incoming students needs to be signed by them and myself. This helps to protect the student, the institution, and myself. I feel that if an Admissions Representative is organized and knowledgeable they are a better help to incoming students.

The Resource Notebook

I found that the concept of keeping a Resource notebook was a key part of not just training, but to the overall functions of the job. Updating this book is also a key part of the job. This is due to the well-announced fact that new information is constantly being obtained and admissions representatives need to be kept up-to-date with the institute changes.

Credits

It is not up to admissions representative discretion if a student life experience could be used as school credits. It is not guaranteed all credits from any institutions can be transferrable to our institution.

Resource Book

For me, as a new admissions representative, "creating" , not just having a resource book is invaluable. By me printing all the major regulations that refer to my job, I will be able to comply with all the regulations. As I learn more information I will add more to my book.

Programs

As admission representative we must know all the programs that are being offered at our institution. We must know what the requirements are for all the programs.

Transfer Credits

I feel that this training was very informative in regards to transferring credits. Each institution has it's own policy regarging transfer credit. It's very important for Admission Represtative to know what their institution requires and if their is a limit

Rules and Regulations

As admission representative we need to know more about the Statutes expecially the Florida Statutes Licensure of Institutions and the Fair Consumer Practice.

Resource notebook

The resource notebook is very important. It is a great tool and guide that an admissions representative can always go back to if they are not sure about a procedure/ policy.
