The worst part for an instructor is to show to the student you are not prepare and organize for the class this show to the student you are not confortable with the subject you are going to teach and lack of experience

Hi Kathleen:
It's been said it takes a lifetime to build a good repuitation and just a moment to ruin one. Same idea. Trust and respect have to be earned. Since this is our job I think we should what we can to shine on every front.

Being unprepared for class is the best way to lose the trust of your students. They can sense immmediately if you are just "winging it" and then there goes your credibility! Once it's gone, it becomes very difficult to recover!

Hi James:
Loss of respect is one of those manifestations of "taking advantage". Once lost, it takes a lot to regain it. The best way is to plan well and right from the beginning demonstrate the teacher is ready and prepared to provide everything needed to meet the course objectives. We can be role models, and students can learn from our example.

Hi Ted:
Students come to us with this expectation. We owe them nothing less.

Hi Trinidad:
Failure of the instructor in the eyes of the students is one of the most awful consequences of not being completly ready for class. Being organized really helps the preparation for class.

because students are getting smarter, if you are unprepaired you will show a weakness that your students will take advantage of

Hi Anthony:
We can be and should be good role models and stewards of appropriate and proper behavior and readiness. Good preparation along with an organized plan will contribute to achieving this important goal.

It is important for an instructor to organize and prepare for each class in order to be as efficient and effective of an instructor as possible. It sets the tone of the class and models appropriate professional behavior.

To insure your student that you the instructor is prepared.

I find it a challenge in being an excellent instructor and wanting very much to do a great job with every class when leadership/administration throws you a complex undeveloped class with a few days notice. Is there a PC way to handle this challenge? How are other teachers dealing with this? I find it very frustrating. There seems to be a disconnect with the time required to deliver quality and also lack of training?

Being prepared and organized is an indication of professionalism give the stiudents an idea of what you and thier future employer expect from them.

Hi Candace:
Students will pick up quite readily if an instructor is ready for class -prepared and organized. We can be role models (good or bad). We have expectations of tyhe students, so al least we can show in kind we operate by our own rules.

Hi Victoria:
Good points. We can be examples and by doing so, hold the students to similar standards for preparedness and being ready for class.

Regards, Barry

Mainly because it shows the students you are ready and organized as an instructor and you are prepared to instruct and teach them at the beginning of class.

it is important because the students need to be set-up for success by having the class ready and organized. It shows that you as an instructor are prepared and care about the class.

Hi Linda:
I aree. Thisis our obligation as instructors and should be fundamental to anyone engaged in the teaching profession.

Regards, Barry

Organization and preparedness when teaching a class shows professinalism on the instructor's end; and respect and interest for the students and their time.

Hi Christne:
We are examples and role models to our sudents. Even if the students fall short, that's still not a reason for the teacher to not have their act together. But an orderly, organized teacher comes to class prepared and ready for the day's work, student can pick up on that trait and can learn by it.

Hi Amy:
You're conveying your expectations, and by doing so regularly it does demonstrate you're prepared for what's planned ahead. Students will recognize this act as prepared and organized. Great!
