Being organized and prepared to teach helps to build respect as a working professional in the eye’s of the students. It is the instructor’s duty to set the example for their students.
Hi Rajini:
Lists, planning, and thinking about outcomes seems to always keep me on track, and helps me when I begin to stray or wander off course.

Hi Cinder:
Yes. I am so much more at ease - calm, relaxed, ready to deliver, or take questions or interruptions, and always have a game plan. This gets conveyed to the students and helps them be relaxed and comfortable in class too. More relaxed opens the mind to better retention.

Hi Angelia:
When I'm prepared, the class just goes well. I feel more confident, and student learning becomes more interesting as I have more time to be involved with the students individually -0 or just being able to take time with the whole class. Not prepared is awful.
Regards, Barry
Absolutely True.I give students the due dates, description of assignments & projects along with daily expectation list on the orientation day(1st day of their clinical). It has helped the students and also me to be almost always stay prepared through out the term.
It is important for an instructor to be organized and prepared for each class because you are practicing what you "preach" to your students. You expect them to be organized and prepared for each class so you should be as well. It leads to a better discussion of course content and refreshes your memory and provokes new thoughts on subject you have talked about before. If I am not as prepared as I would like, I often feel like I am letting my students down and am also letting myself down. I don't want to do either so I try to prepare as much as possible before each class.
There are as many reasons for an instructor to be prepared and organized as there are students. In order to reach each one of the students and have them be successful, an instructor needs as much information to pass on to the students so that they feel part of the learning process. I usually start with a well organized syllabus that spells out each objective, methodology for the class instruction, assignments and due dates. This is usually set up in a calendar format which presents a visual tool for the students. Next, I also attach an addendum to the syllabus that pertains to classroom management in order to present what is expected and not acceptable as student behavior. This gives the student a clear cut perception that is not clouded by miscommunication or misinformation. My next step would be to verbally address both the syllabus and addendum to give the students an opportunity to ask questions or discuss any or all parts of both documents.
My usual form of preparation is to set up an outline for each and every chapter that I am to teach. After reading and outlining, I then prepare my assessments for the chapters using all types of tools available for testing opportunities. All students learn differently therefore, assessments should be a variety whereby each student feels that they are succeeding, whether it is lab, lecture, or writing skills. I have found over the years that repetition is one viable tool that allows the student to achieve a more comprehensive ideal when dealing with a complex material and information.
Lastly, I make myself available before or after class for any student in need. This allows the student to become more comfortable with the course content, the lessons, and even the instructor. Face to face communication makes for the best source of confidence and trust.
It is a very crucial role for the instructor to be organized not just for the class but for the entire semester/term. If the instructor is not organized the students will know and how can you expect the students to be organized and turn assignments/projects in on time if you as the instructor are never organized or prepared for class.
Being organized helps facilitate the class much easier.
Adult students in particular know if you are prepared...and will "Find" you out every time !!!
Why is it important for an instructor to organized and prepared for each class?
Instructors are the classroom leaders and set the examples. It is important to be prepared and organized for class. The students expect this as well. They students want a clear, orgnaized, and thought-out lesson/lesson/plan. This will also assist them in learning and retaining the material.
Hi Karen:
New classes pose the greatest challenge in timing and sequencing. Having a Plan-B, or just additional or supplementary work that's reletive to the topic is a good idea. Review of past material, and discussion are good ways to keep students interested.

Hi Diedra:
The most basic demonstration of care and concern our students can feel is when the recognize our preparation for classes.
Regards, Barry
It is very important to be prepared for class if a student sees an instructor unprepared it leaves a image that maybe the instructor does not know what they are doing.
It is important that a do as "I do" rather than do as "I say" approach be established and continue as we attempt to maximize the efforts of the students. If the instructor is organized and thought and preparation then it is easier to have these expectations of the students prior to class and in class.
Being organized and prepared for class allows the instructor to gain credibility and respect. As an instructor we have high expectations of our students and we should set examples of positive characteristics. When I’m organized and have all of my materials together class is able to move smoothly. It is also important to have a backup plan I teach computers where the students have projects to complete some students finish projects before others so I make sure I have an extra project that can be worked on.
Hi Harriet:
When we're prepared, this sends a message to the students we care about them and their education. They appreciate that time, effort, thought, and planning went into preparing for class, and the will appreciate that.

Hi Harriet:
Our job as educators is to teach and prepare student for a future career. I like to think of it as a better life. Therefore, my preparation for classes can positively contribute to the student's future career.

Hi Janet:
Ethusiasm is one of those behaviors that is contagious. If a teacher displays this manner regularly, students will begin to mirror it. People like positive, upbeat, settings and personalities. This an easy way to craete that kind of setting.
Regards, Barry
Hi Rajini:
Oraganized teachers may receive trust and respect, but even if not, we are committed to prepare through thoughtful planning, effort, and time to present the best lessons.
I agree students will apreciate the effort. For me, I believe trust, respect, and courtesy are simply mirrored back from the teacher (if we give it, we'll get it).
