When dealing with prospective students and explaining to them how our program is presented, we introduce them to V-Camp. V-Camp stands for virtual campus and is the platform in which their classes are delivered. Another term many students are not use to is cohort. Simply put, this is the group of students you will attend class with through out your program. Another term we use is MPN or Master Promissory Note. This is a financial aid piece the student completes to secure funding for their education.
Our Admissions Training Manual includes the Program of Study for each program, school catalogs, marketing tools along with any additional tools the Admissions Representative can use to successfully perform their job.
Accreditation, whether regional or national - I had not heard of the programmatic accreditation.
Enrollment for us is when our student has officially agreed to attend our school and has completed the admissions process.
Those are probably the two - that were covered in this particular course - that we use most often.
Some of the terms and definitions commonly used during the admission process at my institution are : Accreditation, Enrollment, and Enrollment Agreement.
I agree with the Resource Notebook. It is a great way to refer back to the regulations that are in place for the Educational institution you work for. I have learned about the Family Educational Rights and Privacy ACT(FERPA)
Regulations- The rules that the institution must live by to retain its licensure approval.
Program- A prescribed group of courses, taken in the proper sequence to attain mastery of a body of knowledge or set of skills, and leading to a certificate, or degree.
Rules- The Rules have been developed to implement Chapter 1005, Florida Statutes.
Enrollment: registering a student to take programs or courses at an institution when such registration obligates the student to pay tuition to the institution and obligates the institution to provide instruction to the student.
Fair Consumer Practices: The honest, accurate and equitable conduct of business and academic relations between institutions and their students or prospective students.
First I am beginning to put together an notebook. This is a good idea.
One thing that I did discover is that even though I live and work in Colorado I need to be licensed in Florida to enroll students.
I learned that even though we do not reside in the state of Florida I still have to belicensed in the state to work with the State. I am working with my definitions in my resource notebook.

The Resource Notebook is an excellent tool to keep us up to date with all regulations. Also helps us to provide prospective students with the current information they need.

Terms: The length of the programs and the amount of time required to complete externships. Regarding financial aid, most students want to know how many disbursements they will receive and the amount of money they may qualify for.
Definitions: Financial aid and college application. Student asks all the time what is financial aid and how do I apply? Also, what is the difference between grants, scholarships, and loans? I thoroughly review the Enrollment Agreement with the student so they know the document is a legal binding agreement and once signed the student is responsible for adhering to all the requirements outlined in the document.
Hi, I think the "notebook: idea is a great asset and or tool. I have been in the industry for a bit now, but this is the first time I feel that my insitution is well organized in assisitng me with my potential and enrolled students. I will be able to have information at my fingertips to utilize in my changing lifes.
I am new to the college admissions world. A Resource Notebook is an absolute need for me as I have found so many sources of information within our institution and I need those sources at my fingertips. The information is overwelming at first so it is nice to have it in one place as a reference. I started a notebook of information on our institution from the website and various departments and now I am adding the information I gather from this course beginning with Terms and Definitions, Statutes and Codes.
Licensing requirements per state: each state has different licensing requirements which i help them navigate. I also encourage them to research each state's websites and print off a copy of the current rules to be eligible for licensing so if anything changes while they are in school...many times they can be grandfathered in.
Prerequisites--classes that are required to be completed with a C or better (no C-) to be eligible for the program
CCE-Chiropractic Council for Education...in charge of overseeing all chiropractic schools to make sure education is of high quality and covers certain things to become licensed
During the admissions process we use the terms accreditation, clock hour, enrollment, program, and transcript. The process can sometimes be confusing to someone who has not been through it before. As admissions representatives it is our responsibility to define these terms to the potential student so they have a clear understanding of what we are discussing.
