this is great information to take with me from here. I will certainly add this element to my policy book

This is a very good tool to use and I will impliment one in my department.

Well the first thing i placed in the Notebook were the terms and definitions that i just printed.

I've used this technique and its great for me to be informed, that way I can be productive and transmit verifyed info to any prospective student

Mark,
It is important to check the website regularly. Florida Administrative Code can be changed throughout the year so check it out!

Emma,
Make the resource notebook your own as you progress past the basics.

I have incorporated the Commission Rules and Regulations. Also, a copy of the schools catalog along with various forms that I use in the enrollment process.

One of the things that I was not aware of was that the high school representative or someone who works off campus and visits homes is referred to as an "agent". Additionally, I did not know that I could check the Florida Commission for Independent Education website to check for updates to Rules and Statutes.

This course will be very helpful to me. I'm looking forward to the upcoming sections!

It is amazing how many names your Resource Notebook has. Here it has a combination of titles like, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Admissions Policies & Procedures (APP), The Catalog (of course) and my favorite "The Book". What is interesting is that now we can make one binder that will include everything an Admissions Rep can use (but not be limited to one source). Thanks

Diane,
Good advice. Thank you for posting.

Maria,
These are certainly important elements. With definitions, they are to be well understood so that everyone is speaking about the same thing.

Jenna,
How does your school relay the definitions to the students?

Tracy,
Check the CIE website for updates and clarifications to rules. Rules can be modified any time during the year.

Marc,
The rules are very comprehensive. I am glad to hear your feedback.

I currently use a notebook with our policies, procedures, etc. included. I have now included the statutes and highlighted the areas that are either new or less familiar to me. I have reviewed these documents often. I don't feel like I trust my memorization skills 100% so I refer back to written information to ensure accuracy.

In my resourse book I have placed the Terms and Definition, our institutions licences and accreditation information, policies and procedures, various information found in our institutions catalog.
Mainly what I have discovered and learned are the actual definitions and terms.

Clock hours- meaning a period of 60 minutes with in a minimum of50 minutes of instruction in the presence of an instructor

Scholarship- a grant-in aid to a student the offer of a grant in aid to an enrolled student to offset partial or complete cost of a couse, program, certificate or degree

The Resource Notebook is a great tool. Currently I have a similar notebook for my department and staff which I refer to as our Procedures Manual. It contained all of the items which were mentioned throughout this course except for the Statutes. I am glad that that link was provided so that they were easy to access, copy and put in the manual.

I have placed the overview of admissions staff training, terms and definitions, and catalog in my resource notebook. It has already been a learning experience, as I never knew the depth to these compliance regulations. Thankfully, I get to be a part of the training, to make myself and the school a better place for students.

Terrance,
Yes,because your school has a presence operating in Florida, they must comply with Florida statutes and become licensed.

Candi,
Thank you for the feedback and posting.
