Julie,
Your admissions director should have a set of responses to such questions. The student should always be referred to the experts of FA.
Tiffany,
You have a unique perspective being a student and an employee. Very helpful in your role.
Kourtney,
It sounds as thought you are very involved. Keep on learning!
Meisy,
Thank you for your post. It is nice to hear that the culture is about the success of our students.
Kristen,
Getting to know the school will take time and energy. By doing so, you will learn more about your job and how it integrates with the other departments.
Neal,
You have a well-established and large college. Thank you for your post.
I have been here a short time but I know we were founded in 1946 to help returning veterans get re-training to enter the work force. We have 43 ground campuses around the country and an online division.
Ronald,
Historical data provides such an interesting twist about our schools. 1946!
Chris,
It is good to hear that the student comes first, even if they do not end up enrolling at your school.
Elisabeth,
Knowing where to find the right answers is very important.
Acacia,
Your enthusiasm is inspiring!
Dena,
Our sector is very dynamic and we can never assume that we have learned it all.
David,
Your confidence and willingness to go the extra mile to assist another department shines through.
Alex,
You will find most staffers will spend the time with you sharing what their role is in the school. Get to know them!
Paul,
Every institution has operations that can be improved upon. A great institution is proactive in meeting the needs of tomorrow's students.
Jessica,
Having to keep up with two accrediting agencies is tough. By keeping your resources notebook handy, you will be able to discern the nuances of each.
Ronald,
Knowing your institution's history can tell much to a prospective student. They want to know as much as they can as they are investing themselves and their future.
I feel I have an excellent command of the information I need to do the job at my level. I also try to make sure I, at least, know what data will be required by other depts. so I can best serve my students. For instance: although I do not need certain documents to do my portion of the enrollment process, when I spot a situation where Financial Aid will need something from a student, I make sure to prepare the student for this. "Name Linking Docs" would be an example of this.
I am just starting out as an Admissions Representative. I continue to learn each day I am on the job and through courses like this about my students needs, expectations , rules and regulations and the policies of the college. I know about our expectations of the students, programs we offer and how to efectively help a student through the application and registration process. I work hard to expand my knowledge every day so that I am the best resource I can be for my students.
I am knowlegable about my institution, but also realize it is an ongoing learning process. With our weekly training, online resources, great leadership, and this training, I know that I am always learning and providing the best information available to me to my students.
Things change, updates are made, students are never the same, and no situation is the same. But I feel through my institutions training and this course I will succeed.
