Jason,
Try to give them the resources to find the information on their own. Salary ranges are only estimates to what employers are willing to pay.

Daniela,
Companies are only willing to pay what they can afford, not what BLS says they should. They are a business first and foremost.

Carl,
Rules and regs protect us all.

Anette,
Thank you for your post!

Alvin,
Rules and regs protect us all, both the student and the school. It is unfortunate that there are those who do not follow them.

Wanda,
The rules are there to protect both the student and the school.

Patricia,
You are right on target! When the playing field is even, they can make the right choice for them.

Joy,
The rules make sure all students, no matter what school they attend are treated with fair consumer practices.

Patricia,
Thanks for using the forum!

Michael,
You are absolutely right! Honesty and integrity bring you successful and happy students. When they are happy, they give you the best advertisement.

misrepresenting the school this way is really bad for business. it doesnt take long for people to realize that that they were duped. when people have a realistic understanding of what happens after graduating, like understanding that monetary compensation is between the employer and the employee and has variables according to the experience and resume the applicant has to offer. when the student trusts your school you get future referrals from the graduated students which builds you student base.

What a great resource! We use the Bureau of Labor and Statistics but I did not know about O*net...thanks for the tip!

CIE is how we stay in compliance so that we do not say anything wrong or out the way such as guranteeing employment.

It gives us our guidelines and requirements in order to accurately present our school to a potential student in the most ethical way possible. Since all schools are under the same regulations, all schools are presenting their programs within the same guidelines which protects the student from misinformation and unethical practices. Keeps the playing field even.

The requirements as outlined by CIE help us all to manage our jobs. It keeps us on track and focused for the best interest of the student. It does not allow for personal agendas. It helps us stay student focused.

Now that I have seen how the Banking Industry has destroyed the economy, I can fully understand the need for a Higher Authority and Laws, Regulations, and etc. These rules help set a standard and force individuals to make sure that their business/school is offering a service to the public/students and not taking an unfair advantage of them. Funny I used to think that the Government is too intrusive that we as human beings could do the right thing for others and in the end it will all work out. I know better now without laws and guidelines the Wolves take over.

The Commission of Independent Education requirements do give me the marching guidelines of how to be better effective doing my job as an amissions representative. It makes me more confident as that person sitting in my chair.

I believe that they reinforce the compliance requirements we already have in place.

That is good advise many times we get students that come to us for clarity, to see how much they may or may not receive high salaries.

With companies constantly changed it up we are at a point, were maybe people are getting paid sometimes less for their jobs.

So yeah keeping a open

When it come to salary ranges, I make sure to bring up the averages on the computer with students when I have a meeting with them. It's very easy to Google the information and show the students on the spot.

I also Google and print the job availability and post on our student board every month.

Find that having this information available to the prospective students and also the current students is a very motivating. Showing the students that they are mot going to school in vein.
