Lidia,
It seems that everyone goes to Facebook. Pictures are a great way to share the happenings at your school.

Patty Aronoff

We use Facebook as social media . We post pictures of our different activities, upcoming events, and seminars. I think it is a great tool because prospective, current and graduate students can keep updated of any event in the institution.

Vincent,

Presence is important! We cannot be sitting on the sidelines and watch the others go by.

Patty Aronoff

Vicky,
Networking is a benefit of social media. From Facebook, to Twitter, to Linkedin, the network is rapidly growing.

Patty Aronoff

Angela,

It really takes someone to spend time on the page and keep it updated. If you don't, your readership will quickly dwindle.

Patty Aronoff

alain,
Social media is part of many people's lives. We know more and connect quicker with friends through this avenue.

Patty Aronoff

Mike,
Social media is part of our future. We are just beginning to see how this is affecting our culture.

Patty Aronoff

Judy,

Using social media takes time and attention to detail.

These tools are critical in today's market. So many people spend time on these media outlets. Presence is important. The university uses these tools to give students a chance to interact and network. To be successful and find some of the best careers requires networking with the right people. the university uses these tools to support networking. It is also a great way for students to share their stories. This can inspire others to seek out degrees and be successful.

Our school keeps up to date with social media. We understand that social media is the way most of the people are communication now and in the future, people will relay more on it. Besides being in facebook, our institution has its own social media connection allowing students to stay in touch and interact with other students and faculty. This network connection gives students the opportunity to participate on different blogs and other forums.

I have been encouraging my institution to create a facebook page as a form of recruiting, staying in touch w/ prospective students regarding updates/changes, reminders, and following up with alumni/drops. Management is concerned about the monitoring but I feel it is worthwhile because, as mentioned in another post, often students don't answer their phone because they are working, their phone numbers change or we are playing phone tag with them.
I will continue to encourage this form of social media in keeping up with the electronic age.

For career schools the goal is to create and generate leads prospective students that attend the institution. In my personal, Social Media is great to advertise our university and every student who likes our Fan page is most likely a student who will Join our program.

I think the emergence of social media in the past 5 years has produced a unique opportunity for schools to connect with those current and prospective students, faculty, staff, and alumni and help those individuals stay engaged with the institution.

It also helps determine a target audience for use in marketing purposes.

Because of its popularity our particular branch has created a Twitter account and created location-specific groups on LinkedIn, in addition to revamping our Facebook page.

I wholeheartedly believe social media is a key driver in our future strategy and the metrics provides invaluable insights.

We use Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn to post events, congratulations, and campus information. I post a quote every week, which usually receives a few likes.

Junior,
We are just learning how to use these tools. Facebook is often used as a first step.

Patty Aronoff

Norlan ,

You are very lucky to have a dedicated person to this task.

Patty Aronoff

My school uses social media but does not a well designed campaign. A few instructors use facebook to keep in touch with students.

we have a director of online services, this way we can stay in contact with current and prospective students.

Thelma,

Most schools that utilize social media have policy guidelines for its use. It should be monitored, especially when the information is under the school's name. You certainly don't want to have just anyone posting!

Patty Aronoff

I am new to using social media.Want to make sure we are monitoring it correctly. Do I understand that when someone post from the Istitute they must identify themselves??? Looking forward to this "new age" way of staying connected with our students and graduates.
