I placed all of the required information in my Resourse notebook. I also have included the other states that have additional requiremens. Florida and TN. This should be a great resource for future enrollments.
I've also started meeting with our instructors to gain a better insight of the programs and will include that information in this guide.
I am brand new to this industry so compiling a Resource Notebook is a great way to get the information I will need plus stay on top of any changes. I will definitely use some of the suggestions here. Thanks
I have a print out of the Ohio rules and regulations, school policies & procedures, organizational chart, information slicks on the various programs, a list of phone numbers, and section for information updates received from the campus.
So far, I have placed the following in my Resource Notebook: School Catalog; Enrollment Agreement (Application); printed publications such as a viewbook, information posters, handouts; and an Organization Chart. I have been in this industry for over 30 years, so I found the information helpful in refreshing my mind on the rules and regulations.
The resource notebook is an excellent idea in order to stay updated with current requirements but to also have quick access to school resources. I recently changed campus locations so copies of my current branch's catalog, disclosures and enrollment materials are important for me to review. I have worked in admissions for over three years, so I am very well aware of the regulations and rules; however, it is important to be reminded to regularly check for changes since college guidelines are constantly adapting to better serve the students.
I have added the rules and regulations to my Resource Notebook from the first lesson I went through. I feel as though this information is very important to have easily accessible because it is so important to know what should be said, and what should not. I have worked in an admissions department for the last 5 years, and things are constantly changing. I would not want to misrepresent my school in any way by not being informed.
I haven't place anything in the resource book yet. I have learned some stuff about the regulations, I didnt know if you had a felony that the board could possibly approve you for a permit. I didnt know that someone that just writes up the enrollment agreement does not have to have a permit.
Damon:
At this time only admissions representatives have to complete the training. It may be expanded in the future to include school directors as there are many small schools that are approved in Ohio that do not have licensed admissions reps and where the school director effectively serves as an admissions officer.
So far I have included a print out copy of the school catalog, Enrollment agreement, organizational chart, quarter schedule of classes, marketing materials and some other important documents that we require prospective students to sign.
As of now I did not discover anything new. I have been doing this job for about 7 months. I reviewed the OACC website before.
I have found that creating a resource handbook can be very helpful not only to myself but to my prospective students. I have included all pages and notes from this module and will add more pages and notes from the upcoming modules. All my school information is included as well as I printed the entire copy of the Administrative Rules for the State Board of Career Colleges and Schools.
I was suprised that an agent had to obtain a permit in this manor and feel this policy should be in place in every state.
I think having a resource notebook is important tool for each admission representative to have. If any student or prospect student has a question and you would like to answer his or her question and show them where they can obtain this infomation, this is when having your resource note book is handy.
I am putting a Resource Notebook together immediately for an "at a glance" educational tool to be available for review and confirmation. Excellent idea!!!!
John,
I initially thought all admissions representatives and teachers had to complete agent training. I guess its only the admissions staff. I also learned that there is a time frame in which the license must be renewed. Prior to this training I was not aware of an expiration date.
I think having my own Resource Notebook is a fantastic way to make sure that I am always in compliance and will make a great point of reference manual for myself.
I have a notebook that has all the states and school regulations that i would ever need to know or look back at if i have a question about it. The rules and regulations have been the biggest benifit for me. Brushing up on these policies have allowed me to become a well rounded admissions officer
I have a copy of the course catalog, admissions paperwork required for enrollment (including the Enrollment Agreements), as well as up-dated information on accreditations and approvals and school policy information.
Creating a solid notebook can be very helpful, especially as policies and procedures are constantly changing.
I feel the same way...The notebook is a quick quide to allow me to make sure I am compliant at all times...The notebook works for me!
The entire catalog. Content in its advertising both print and media.
