Redusing Student Chating

To reduse student cheating the teacher should make different verison of a test or quiz.

Using Guest Speakers

Guest Speakers are a very good way of let the students know that they can have success and see success.

Showing Homework

Students should show their work. This proofs that the student has a clear understanding or needs more time to get a better understanding.

Things I have learned

Things I have learned while teaching is it is ok to admit your mistake and go on from there. I look at it as a learning experience and it is not the end of the world. I have found in my presentation assignment I give to my students in my last term that I did not make myself specific. I think in this next term I plan on having a check list so that students know more what is expected of them for the assignment.

Some Things I do

Some Things I do to prevent cheating is to make the test more project based where the student has to do his or her own work. I request a print out with his or her name on the sheet of paper. I also have essays that forces them to write their own ideas on paper. Another idea i have seen is to offer mulitple tests. For example have 3 different versions of the test like Test A, B, and C. So they will not be the same test, therefore each test would require different answers. I usually build relationships with my students and also have a review before we take the test to refresh their minds of the material we have covered.

You need to develop Relationships with the students

I find you need to develop relationships with your students. You need to find out what interest them, why they are taking your course, how they can apply the content to benifit themselves, get them excited about you and the course by learning what they are all about.

Encouragement and Understanding I think helps

I find in my classroom. I try to be that teacher I wanted in school. I am constantly encouraging my students. When things come up I feel I am very understanding and like working things out with the student to see them succeed in my class.

Students provides misinformation found on internet

I had a student the try to tell me that Abe Lincoln was elected in 1992 and it must be fact because she found it on the internet. I was not able to convince student that her information was incorrect. She kept stating that she found it on the internet and she was sticking with it. I was able to convince her to leave her "fact" out of the presentation. This discussion did not take place during class. During break we were discussing information for a presentation she was creating . We have had several discussions and examples of trustworthy and non trustworthy sites. I need help combating the "it must be true because it is on the Internet" syndrome.

Maintining a professional image

Alway do the right thing in class ,just like you will in your job as a Healthcare worker.Do not dismiss any unproffesional behavior. That foesn't mean that you cant use humor in the class ,and/or higlight certain situations.Just do it professionally

Reducing cheating in the classroom

I am always giving my attention while the nstudents are atking a test.So they know I am watching closely and not paying attention to what is going on during the test. For me that is the best way..not giving them a chance to cheat

Managing Difficult Students

It presents a challenge to the isntructor having different types of these students in a classroom. But paying attention to their behavior ,having strucxture in the classroom and assingning them important roles within the classroom helps a lot.

Managing late assignments.

I always tell them in advance ,that late HW will be penalized, and I draw the line up to when I'll be accepting HW.If they have clear directives and yo stick to them ,the students will get the message.

LATE ASSIGNMENTS

I am a stickler for late assignments. I teach night classes and realize most of my students have full time jobs. Should I be more easy going about late homework?

MISTAKES

IF A MISTAKE IS IS MADE IN THE PROCESS OF TEACHING,I believe the best thing to do is own the mistake fix.It teaeches students two important lessons. 1.that we all make mistakes 2.when a mistake is made it is always better to be honest ,ask for help if needed and to not be ashamed

CHEATING

CHEATING IS WIDESPREAD WITH ALL THE TECHNOLOGY OUT THERE.HOW DO YOU CONTROL WITHOUT MAKING STUDENTS FEEL AS IF THEY ARE BEING TREATED LIKE CHILDREN?

GETTING STUDENTS TO ENGAGE DURING CLASS DISCUSSIONS

I BELEIVE THAT ADULT STUDENTS TEND TO ON A WHOLE,WITHDRAWL IF THEY FEEL PUT ON THE SPOT OR THREATEND

CORSE REQUIREMENTS

MY BELIEF IS THAT AS INSRUCTORS WE NEED TO BE 100% CLEAR ON CORSE REQUIREMENTS.THERE SHOULD BE NO CLASS DEVEATION.

Student stressors

Stress is basically defined as an applied force or system of forces that tends to strain or deform a body. It is usually caused by something that is out of the ordinary from everyday life, things like tests, family problems and loss of job. Today students have a lot of stress because of a lot of different reasons. There are many things that cause stress for college students; school-related issues, relationships, and peer pressure.

Stress in the workplace

For workers everywhere, the troubled economy may feel like an emotional roller coaster. "Layoffs" and "budget cuts" have become bywords in the workplace, and the result is increased fear, uncertainty, and higher levels of stress.

Psychomotor Learning Activity

Hi Folks, my name is Qadar and I teach computers to MA (Medical Assistance) and MBC (Medical Billers and Coders) in one class. I teach both groups how to use both EHR (Electronic Health Record software) and PMP (Practice Management Program software). To create a team work between the MA and MBC students is very difficult. To break the ice between the groups I give them a research paper named "COMPUTERS then and now". I break them up into groups (mix of both parties) and research through the internet: History of computers, advantages and disadvantages of computers. This idea is working out really well. If you have different ideas that I could implement please let me know. Thanks.
