I've printed copies of pertinent laws, and links the course has provided, for much valuable information. I like to make copies of everything I can get my hands on, and inset into my resource book, so I can address my students with the most updated and relevant information to them.
Connie,
Thank you for your post.
Rachel,
Whatever we decide to name our resource book, it remains invaluable.
Meggan,
Titles are so important and can be midleading in themselves.
Gladis,
It is an excellent tool. Make it your own and add additional materials to work it for you.
Kim,
Knowing the requirements after graduation is very important to know from the beginning. They are planning for life.
The idea of maintaining 'A BOOK' is a must. We call it 'Procedures Manual' but it is a matter of terminology. It is an essential part of work: you can use it for your staff and yourself, for interviewing potential students, for checking on the details you are not certain of, for proper and timely updates when necessary, etc.
Cheryl,
Postsecondary is after high school. They must be past the compulsory age of education in Florida, which is 16.
Terms we use on a regular basis would include Commission, in reference to who regulates us, Enrollment Agreements, which we discuss in great detail, and Programs, as referenced in our Catalog.
I look forward to updating my Resource Book with as much of this valuable information as possible!
Enrollment agreement: A legally binding contract.
Institution: any college , university or post secondary institution.
I have placed a copy of the school catalogue and enrollment agreement, as well as copies of the Commission's rules and regulations
I did not realize a person could attend here at the age of 16.
"Accreditation" is probably the most common term used at my institution. Prospects need to know what schools are recognized by the US Department of Education, and if they can take the Bar Exam in other states.
The second most popular term around the office is "marketing." We have to make sure that promotional materials are up to date and an accurate reflection of our institution.
Stephanie,
Excellent post! You have added new points for discussion.
Victoria,
Resource notebooks are an integral part of our everyday work environment and must be kept up-to-date.
I’m not new in this field, but never before I used the notebook. I start working on it with the catalog, advertising, and the enrollment agreement. I think is a great resource to be up date and well informed.
Tricia,
The catalog is your guide to your school for policies and procedures. Every student is required to have one and they should reference it often.
Enrollment Agreement, Accreditation and Program are all used at our campus
I didnt realize that every institution had to follow the same rules.
