I have placed the rules and regulations in my resource notebook. I also added our training manual and standard operating procedures booklet.
I did not know that out-of-state colleges must obtain a certificate of registration from the board to solicit Ohio students.
By making the notebook this gives me a safe convienent way to always stay in complience!
In addition to the items many others have mentioned, I also created and included a change log to include with my notebook. This way I can log any new or updated information I add to my notebook at a later time. Hopefully this addition helps me keep my materials as up to date as possible.
Deborah,
Reapplying insures that the agent is up to date on the latest policy and procedures. It also ensures the student that a high quality agent is taking care of them.
In my notebook, I have printed the laws, rules, and and regulations that our school has to abide by. Also, I have placed a copy of the Ohio enrollment agreement, an organization chart, and accredidation paperwork. I discovered that our rules and regulation comform to the State of Ohio Education policy.
I am a new Agent starting out and I was very suprised that there was a actual license that one has to recieve in order to work in admissions in a school.
I found it helps to know who everyone is at our college using the organizational chart. That was the first thing I added to my notebook. Now I can be sure of who I can go to with particular questions.
David,
Do you feel comfortable going to academic directors with questions regarding core contents if you are on clear on the subject matter?
I included all relevant career materials and organizational charts
I did not know that I would have to display my Permit at all times
I already have a notebook that is created during our training for the position. It does outline the paperwork and the important facts to be sure and point out to students in the catalog.
You can have your agent permit revoked at any time, put if you do it the right way from the beginning and always that is not a concern you have.
I have placed in my resource notebook my schools; catalog, enrollment agreement and copy of state statues for career colleges. Having the resource notebook readily available will allow me to provide my students, parents and my co-workers current material should questions arise.
It was surprising to me to learn that teachers don't have to take agent training required by the board. If the agent training is required by the Ohio Board when the agent is first licensed why is a passing score required for continuing education?
I've added a collection of documents including our student handbook, school catalog, information about each of our school's programs and departments, faculty information and Bureau of Labor statistics. I've also included the OACCS regulations.
I believe we are more Admissions Advisors, we make suggestions and recommendations. The final determination is in the hands of the Campus Dean.
The university does not reward agents for the number of students they enroll. Agents are eligible to receive a cost of living increase based upon their evaluation. We receive targets for enrollment for the campus not per agent. This process helps us to stay focused on enrolling quality students and not just hitting numbers.
I have notes in regards to the first module in my notebook that I will compile throughout this training as a reference for the future.
Additionally, I have learned that one's license can be revoked at any time and it's important to remember this.
i agree that this is important to identify. Often times parents and or students wants to know what our role is. It's easy to feel that we are simular to a counselor.
So I've placed note's taken from the first Module, the forms for certification and ohio law's and rules. I've also included our enrollment agreement and our College Catalog.
What I discovered was keeping up with all marketing material and or flyers is vital along with agents must recieve at least 25% of their total annual compensation from the school in salary.
I have included the Overview and Requirements of Agent Training Program, the CM202 - Ohio Rules and Regs for Admissions Agents, and the Agents/Admissions Reps Regulatory Laws/Rules 3332-1-17. These will prove to be valuable resources throughout my employment as an agent.
I am glad to learn more about the regulatory laws and the standards set by the state to hold me accountable within my profession.
